Have just got back after 6 nights at the Sol Costa Daurada. My partner and I are in our mid thirties and we had the break to get away from our kids ! Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad hotel, if you have kids it is brilliant, without, you do feel a little like a 2nd class citizen. For most aspects, the hotel warrants its 4 Star rating. The rooms are typical of a 4 Star Spanish Hotel, are a good size and are kept spotlessly clean. The bars and pool areas are good and there was always a sunbed (bit short of parasols though) The kids are well catered for, with a kids club all day everyday, however it was almost as if the evening entertainment was slanted towards children. Every night a 9pm there is the 'mini disco' and on one night following this, there was a 'disney show' until midnight. Therefore, not much in the way of entertainment for those of us of a more elderly disposition ! The major let down however was the food. The food is definitely not up to 4 Star standard and is more akin to an upmarket Transport Cafe. If you like a constant diet of beans and chips, this is the Hotel for you. Attempts and cooking beef and chicken were very poor and to be honest the food lacked variety as it was the same most nights. Breakfast was more of the same, however the only thing I can recommend the Cheese Omelettes that were cooked fresh at the grill. Mentioning the grill, this served a 'special' every night for dinner - to follow the kids theme and the lack of quality, one nights special was............wait for it............fresh burgers, onions and rolls. I rest my case ! As I said, this is not a bad hotel with plenty of positives, but the food and entertainment did let it down for us.
