The Hawthorne is well kept, staff friendly hotel in the center of Salem. A six story brick building built a hundred years ago. It fits in with Salem while offering clean, comfortable accommodations at a somewhat pricey but not unreasonable rate. It is in the center of town within walking distance of lots of restaurants and sights. The Witches Museum is a few hundred yards from its front door.

The staff at the Hawthorne are amazing! The bar attendant Cameron and the other lady on last night were so kind and generous. Lauri on reception is incredibly thoughtful and fabulous at her job! Everyone was very kind to us and it was my son’s 18th birthday in a few hours in Australia and they made it all the more special with their kindness! Was up early enjoying the lounge area and had the privilege of meeting the owner Mr Harrington. Complimentary tea/coffee/water and in the afternoon Lemonade. Had the best Expresso Martini of my life so far!

The front desk staff were very kind. The hotel is a time capsule and was so good to be there with our children. We would definitely stay there again. My children have the photos of the inside of the hotel.

I recently visited the Hawthorne Hotel for a family event. I stayed for 3 nights, and it was very clean and comfortable. It was great to be directly in the Salem Historical area, and it was a great stay overall. I would gladly stay here again. The hotel staff was great too!

I've stayed here many times and always loved it but our room was properly cleaned this time before we arrived. I reached out to the hotel but they never responded. There was a dirty facecloth hanging over the shower, a maxi pad paper on the bathroom floor. All the drawers were open when we entered the room and someone wrote a message on the bathroom mirror that could only be seen once it was steamed up. Clearly nobody washed the mirror, did they wash the sink? Change the sheets? I have no idea and I don't like to have to wonder when paying over $300 to stay.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Hawthorne. Christine and all her staff were AMAZING. The food was amazing. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is so accommodating. Christine went above and beyond for us. We are forever grateful!

Nothing but positives to say about this place. Rooms are dated but modernized, if that makes sense. Rather small, but incredibly clean and very comfortable. Strong air conditioner too. That said, this is a historic hotel in the best location you could ask for, right in the centre of everything Salem, with the Salem Witch Museum basically across the street. There was even a cool little postcard to take as a souvenir in the room. Everything is walkable from the hotel pretty much. Staff were not only courteous, but had a great sense of humour too. Tons of parking for hotel guests too. Would absolutely stay here again.

We arrived rather late and found the receptionist very welcoming and friendly. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the bigger than usual bedroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our room looked onto a street however we didn’t find it particularly noisy. We ate breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was delicious, in fact the portions were more than I needed. The hotel provided a small fridge in the room. The free onsite parking was a bonus. There was no safe available in the room, however the reception staff did offer to put our valuables in the hotel safe. Whilst I appreciated this as an international traveller I would have liked to be able to safely store my things in our room.

Our stay at the Hawthorne was very delightful and at the perfect spot for us to do walking tours and actually be able to enjoy all that Salem has to offer! Allison which was our waitress when we dined at the Hawthorne was very charming and took great care of myself and daughter on our trip! We came in right before closing but she gave us a great experience and the food was very delicious. We will definitely consider the Hawthorne if we ever find ourselves in Salem again!
