The Hotel Salem

Great hotel central loads around it to do, staff for this hotel where also very lovely and helpful

Very cool vibe, great aesthetic, couldn’t be better location (walkable to everything), friendly service, great follow up with the texting, but there are some fit and finish functionality problems. The barn door on the bathroom has a 2” gap between it and the wall, so there's zero privacy. The room is dead silent with lots of smooth surfaces for echo, no white noise help from the AC, so you hear every thump from above and note from below (and noise from the bathroom). The lights are on a main switch, including the bathroom, so you can’t have the bathroom lights on without having the main lights on. The side table lights were way too bright, so those were of no use. The TV is an Amazon Fire TV, so no live cable, just the freebie “Live TV” channels you get with a streaming TV (which are just pre-recorded loops). You can sign into your own streaming services, but for folks who don’t know how to do that, they probably will have a hard time with the TV. Room 202 is right above the restaurant, so during the day you’ll hear music, but it’s not terrible, and doesn’t go late. But we did hear the folks in the 3rd floor well into the wee hours, so that wasn’t awesome. The front desk folks were absolutely wonderful, which is why I’m giving it three stars instead of two. Good for solo travelers who have streaming accounts, a sleep mask, a white noise machine, and ear plugs, or come in knowing that’ll be the couples experience without those things.

My wife and I found the Hotel Salem to be a fantastic place to stay. The staff was absolutely amazing and so willing to offer assistance. The room was all that two folks would need, a great king-sized bed with big fluffy pillows, as well as ample room to store your belongings. The rooftop deck with its own bar and restaurant, another big plus. We rate the Hotel Salem a 5/5.
