The Hotel de Pavie was the highlight of our stay in Saint Emilion and was our favourite hotel during our time in France. It is the sort of special place that helps make a holiday memorable. The best features were the luxurious rooms and the wonderful, Michelin-starred restaurant. ROOM: Our room was luxurious and spacious, with a beautiful decor. It’s worth noting that some of the rooms are much closer to the reception area and main building so you may want to consider which part of the hotel you’d like to be in. Our room was some distance away and it took 3 different elevators to get to it. However, it was lovely and quiet and we had direct access out to the lower level of the town, near the Monolithic Church. LOCATION:
The hotel is located in the upper level of the town, next to the church bell-tower. From here, you have a panoramic view over the medieval town and the surrounding countryside and vineyards. The Tourist Office is almost next door so you can easily book tours of the Monolithic Church or bell-tower before setting off to explore the rest of the town. SERVICE: Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Initially we were given a room which was quite noisy because it was below one of the dining rooms and tables and chairs were being moved late at night. When we mentioned this, it was quickly and quietly resolved and we were given a new room which we were very happy with. Breakfast was served in the bar area and was delicious. Again, service was attentive. RESTAURANT: The Michelin-starred La Table de Pavie was and it was another memorable part of our holiday. However I’ve written a separate review for the the restaurant.
