The Orient Beach sells itself as a 4* hotel, but ultimately only offers the services of a 3* hotel. Overall, the whole hotel is pretty shabby and you can't look too closely. The family room is too small for two adults and two small children, how could it fit with two school children/teenagers? The room only has a rickety built-in wardrobe, the sliding doors of which are barely movable. Otherwise, there is no decent storage space or shelves. We didn't know where to put the children's clothes. The bathroom is tiny. Here too, there are no shelves or a few hooks for clothes and towels. The air conditioning rattles and hums all night, but unfortunately doesn't cool. It was impossible to open the balcony doors due to the excessive noise from the evening entertainment program. The entertainment officially ends at 11 p.m., but of course drunken partygoers don't go to the room then. We found the noise really annoying, as the noise from outside seemed to penetrate the room unfiltered. The mattresses in our room were absolutely worn out and so terribly uncomfortable that we now have back and neck pain. When it comes to the so-called double bed, you should know that these are single beds pushed together and the mattresses slide off the frame at night when you turn over. There is a small sink, a microwave, a refrigerator and an extractor hood (what is it for, actually?) in the room. The hotel is firmly in German hands: so if you only want to hear and speak German when you are abroad, this is the right place for you! However, this also implies that the good German holidaymaker will of course trudge to the pool loungers at 7 a.m. armed with a towel. Reserving loungers is prohibited, but that doesn't bother anyone. Except perhaps those who would also like to go to the pool but stick to the reservation ban and therefore don't get a lounger or chair at 8:30 a.m. The smoking ban at the pool is also seen as a recommendation. Overall, the crowd was very Ballermann-worthy, which we hadn't expected, especially not for the price of the trip. We thought the food was good. There are Antilop high chairs for small children. That's great. The selection of food is limited, but sufficient and tasty. In 10 days we only had one small *** moment at the buffet when there was meat loaf with egg. The staff were friendly and very stressed. WiFi is free, you get a code at reception. Pool towels are available for a deposit, but we didn't use them. In summary: the hotel is OK. But it's not 4 stars. And we wouldn't go there again
