Eden Hotel by Maistra Collection

The most beautiful place at the sea in Istria. Perfect location for sport activities and relax.

After a wonderful week of sailing from Zadar, we wanted to relax in Istria and chose the Eden Hotel in Rovinj. The hotel is situated in a sheltered bay with its own beach and a lovely large garden/park with a large swimming pool. The garden is beautiful, offering plenty of space and tranquility. The beach and the pool area are very crowded, and all the sunbeds are very close together. To our surprise the outdoor pool was closed for maintenance on July 28th and 29th! This was during peak season! This wasn't announced beforehand when booking, nor even at check-in at reception. We could use the indoor pool at the wellness area, but it was very crowded and not very relaxing. When we woke up after the first night, a terrible stench came from the bathroom; we couldn't stay there. The hotel advised us not to use the bathroom and that they would send a maintenance technician. By the end of the afternoon, the problem had been resolved, or so we thought. After one of us took a quick shower, the bathroom was full of water. A repairman came again and told us that a colleague had installed a device earlier that day that had eliminated the smell, but that the water couldn't drain. Fortunately, this repairman managed to fix it properly. The room (312) is otherwise fine but not special and the balcony is small. The bathroom has a frosted glass wall facing the bed. The design is nice, but if someone turns on the bathroom light at night, the whole room is illuminated, waking the other person. The breakfast buffet has plenty of choice and the quality is good. It was very busy, though, and there was quite a bit of a wait. The breakfast staff are hard-working and helpful. The staff who help with luggage and parking your car are also very service-oriented. The hotel bar is in the main hall and isn't very inviting, with to bright lighting. It could be arranged differently in the evening than during the day. All in all, I think the € *** we paid per night (family of three with breakfast) is too much for what we (didn't) get. All reception staff was very friendly and commited to solve the issues but this should not have happend.

Beautiful hotel in an ideal location. Rooms are spacious and clean with a modern bathroom and large balcony. The new pool is of a good size, has some jets and a waterfall, alongside a bar. Private beach with plenty of sun loungers, rocky as expected but beautiful blue water. The area is scenic with lots of greenery and wildlife. Oleander restaurant is between the pool and the beach, offering nice food. Hotel food is of a good variety and quality. A 10 minute walk along the marina sees you at some more restaurants, alternatively walk a further 10 and you are in the Old Town. Just beautiful! Only complaints would be that a twin room is two beds pushed together, alongside the pool situation. Pool rules state that after an hour unaccompanied items will be removed from sun loungers to accommodate those wanting to sit around the pool. Pool attendants place bands on these beds. Unfortunately you cannot even go for food without this worry! Within getting off our sun beds and walking to Oleander’s we had already been banded, in all of a minute. Whilst I understand the thought process this is absolutely ridiculous and carried out poorly.
