Apartments Hinterreiter

Lodgings are never the highlight of a city visit, especially in a town as lovely as Rovinj, but Hinterreiter Apartments is so special we’ll plan our return visits around availability there, for many reasons. SEA ACCESS-More than “seaview” it’s a chance to interact. Swim access just off the back terrace, but even better for somewhat lazy 60-something’s like us, we could hear the gentle lapping, smell and feel the gentle breezes, see the bottom of the crystal clean Adriatic, all from the comfort of our lovely apartment. MODERN CONVENIENCES: We were ready to give up some for this perfect location in a marvelous historic building, but it turned out we had more than we needed, and more than we’ve come to expect even in modern U.S. lodgings: Outlets exactly where we needed them, double switched lights and good wifi. Kitchen with microwave/brew coffee pot, everything we needed to enjoy leftovers, or meal prep too. EASY ACCESS: An almost level walk ”home” in cars-prohibited hilly Rovinj is a rare treat, especially after a day of touring, but the less than 10-minute path from the car park to the apartment is a very moderate incline. Traveling for 6-weeks with way too much luggage, the proprietor’s recommendation that main car park attendants would truck/golf cart it to the apartment worked great. They gave us a time slot a couple hours after arrival, transported the luggage as promised and even helped the hubby carry it up the inner steps. Outer door code worked just fine and apartment access was granted as agreed. Add to the above, comfy, attractive & perfectly functional spots for eating, lounging and sleeping and a wonderfully communicative host, and the only thing we’d change is that we wished we’d stayed longer. It was the “crown jewel” of our fine 6 lodging choices during our 5 weeks in Croatia, Spring 2022.

Room was exactly as advertised. We stayed on the top floor in one of the Attic rooms. Funky ceiling, fun, comfortable, great views out the windows. It's on the sea inside of the old town at the end of the first road, so it's close to the gorgeous path around the far side of the peninsula and great restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. I'm writing this review sitting on the rock terrace just outside the back door watching one boat after another putter by. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Our host Christoph has tended to our every need even though he is not onsite.
