Charming hotel, in the middle of Rouen, where we stayed for one night on our way to Cherbourg. Friendly staff at the reception, a code to open the front door after nine o’clock, and free parking below the hotel. You do need to make reservations for the car park as there are only a few spots available. The hotel is situated in a no-car area though, so we needed a card to enter the area, a bit of a hassle but we could take out our luggage in front of the hotel. Nice rooms, small but clean; breakfast sufficient.

Stayed one night at the Dandy with friends on the way to the Loire Valley. To be honest I was a little dubious because the hotel was so reasonably priced - but I was pleasantly surprised !. We had lovely rooms at the back of the hotel, rooms were well furnished and well equipped, comfy beds, plus tea and coffee making facilities, also the free WiFi worked well. The guy on reception was very friendly and very helpful. We paid an extra 13 Euros for parking, which was worth it, as the secure parking was right next door to the hotel, and also paid an extra 8 Euros for a dog in one of the bedrooms. Because the hotel is on a pedestrianised road it can be a bit tricky to find, but luckily the hotel sent us directions (Boulevard des Belges then Rue Jean Lecanuet and Rue de Fontenelle). We were told that when you arrive at the bollards you press the "Apel" button and wait for the police to speak and then tell them you are staying at the Dandy. Hotel is in a great location, near to the local sites, loads of restaurants, and a great wine bar right opposite the hotel. There is also a nice cafe on the roundabout with a patisserie nearby where we bought some nice croissants to have with our coffees (they didn't sell croissants in the cafe) I suppose the only downside is that there is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but as I have said - great wine bar across the road and loads of restaurants in easy walking distance. Definitely recommend Le Dandy for a stopover in Rouen

We chose this hotel for price and location. Arrived by cab but were getting a car. Parking in nearby underground garage for reasonable price (11 Euros for 24 hours). We knew about parking arrangements before arriving. Hotel is clean, well furnished. Our bed was very comfy. Bathroom slightly dated but everything functioned just fine. Our room faced the front - a pedestrian friendly street with half timbered buildings, very convenient to Vieux Marche, restaurants, and sights. I initially thought the rooms might be noisy but we never heard a sound at night so either nearby guests were very quiet or the soundproofing was better than I thought. The rooms don't have individual heat control. A very small soap bar was provided at the sink, bath gel for the shower. Water was hot enough, water pressure fair. There was a hair dryer. There is an annex with additional rooms. We didn't see them. Breakfast was 13 Euros and was OK, canned fruit cup, cold hard boiled eggs, pastry, croissants, breads, yogurt. It's served in a lovely dining room behind reception. The elevator is very tiny - one suitcase at a time fits, but at least you don't have to carry them up the stairs. Vincent, the manager, there most evenings, was very pleasant. He was very helpful with restaurant suggestions, directions, etc. The day reception man was not so pleasant, never a smile or greeting, not too helpful. I was disappointed to see that there was a 1 Euro 50 charge for using the in room coffee machine. When I asked for milk to go with the coffee from this machine, I was told "no". Would I stay here again - absolutely. The quirky little problems were worth the great location and good night's sleep.

I can recommend this little hotel for a good value break in Rouen. It's in a pedestrianised area and sooooo close to the ancient market square and Joan of Arc church. Literally five minutes walk and with a number of very nice restaurants in walking distance. We had a room on the fourth floor all done out prettily in blue Toile De Jour. There's a small lift up there and the room was clean and nicely furnished with an adequate, if small, en suite. Breakfast was a welcome change from the usual cheap French hotel servings. Here we had a choice of healthy wholemeal bread as well as the usual baguette and pastries, healthy muesli instead of just cheap sugary cereals, low sugar jams (unheard of usually), homemade yoghurt and a good selection of cheese and meats. You have to pay extra for the breakfast but we found it well worth it and set us up for the day. The owner was very accommodating, putting a few niggles right as soon as he could even though he was short staffed. We were also able to park our car in the secure underground car park next to the hotel for only 13 euros a day. Good value. Also free Wifi was available in the lobby. Only small downside was that our room overlooked the back of the hotel meaning there was a certain amount of noise from the busy main road that runs there.
