Loly Boutique Hotel Roma

Nice, smaller hotel in a lovely part of Rome. Lots of excellent restaurants in the local area, and well placed for a walk to the main sites (majority are 30 to 45 minutes away). The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast selection was fairly good. It would be good if they provided water and complimentary drinks given it is fairly expensive. That aside, I’d recommend it.

Lovely hotel The staff were wonderful, in particular Claudio who was super efficient The hotel used to be a printers so the rooms are in a bit of a labyrinth … but not in a horrible way .. just very clever use of the space The breakfast was lovely The rooms were really comfortable and modern It was a bit of a walk into the centre but nothing that was not manageable for our group … and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist areas Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating Would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly as long as you are aware it is not in the centre of the tourist sights It is situated in Travastere which is a lovely place to explore

Mixed bag The neighborhood is a mixed bag - lots of graffiti and people shaking us down for cash or running a scheme from the moment we walked off the plane. Be very careful in Rome. Don't let ANYONE stop you at the airport. Even the front desk of the hotel - though friendly - was looking to make a buck. You can't trust any pricing given for taxi or shuttles. I wish I would have stayed somewhere else. When I told the front desk about some of the intimidating problems we had at the airport and with our taxi driver who pretended to have issues with the credit card machine and insisted he drive my husband to an ATM for cash, she laughed and said "this is common". I then got hustled by the front desk for them to set up a cab for us that increased 3 times with each front desk encounter I had. (They started with 50 Euros to the train station, then it was 55, then 80!) Booked my own cab for 27 Euros! This is Rome. The hotel is clean and fine but we were so uncomfortable with the surroundings and staff that we couldn't wait to leave.

I've never written a TripAdvisor review in my life but I felt absolutely compelled to tell everyone about how perfect this spot is. I had a few days to myself in Rome, before the rest of my friends arrived, and I'm sooo glad I stayed at Loly as a solo female traveler. The location is perfect for someone who likes to explore. Sure, you could stay in a run-down closet across from the Trevi Fountain, but if you're better than that (and you ARE better than that) you could stay in this picturesque neighborhood that's just a short stroll to the city center. It's only a side street away from the busiest part of the neighborhood, Trastevere. I walked everywhere and felt super safe wherever I went, even late at night. Loly is also super easy to get to from public transportation (from the airport and city centre). The hotel is a gated-in, little community of apartment-style buildings with the main building at the front. The little nook of buildings is totally removed from the tourist-y bustle. The rooms were very nice and clean, overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast is a must, and staff was veryhelpful. Bonus points for providing the Ortigia shampoo and conditioner. ＜3
