Ibiscos Garden Hotel

We had a fantastic holiday in this lovely hotel. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is very clean and in a great location. 5 min walk to the beach, where there are watersports and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars all along the waterfront. 20 min walk to Old Town which is a lovely place to wander around. The most amazing sunsets can be enjoyed every evening. We stayed in a 1 bed apartment, which was perfect for a family of 4 , had everything we needed. and was cleaned daily. There are a number of outdoor pools which could be busy, but there is enough space for everyone and they have different opening times, so we were able to continue swimming when the main pool closed at 6:30pm. The buffet breakfast was fantastic! Plenty of choices including freshly made pancakes. We were B&B, so only ate in the restaurant one evening, but the a la carte menu was good and the food was delicious. We rented a car for a couple of days, so were able to explore a bit more of the island. Parking around the hotel is free and easy to find, either directly outside or nearby. We really did have a great holiday and want to say a special thank you to Spiros for all the lovely cocktails and to Stellios for his warm welcome and hospitality. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We enjoyed the hotel very much. The best part for me was the service for cycling. There is a well-outfitted rental shop with all kinds of bicycles, managed by a very friendly and experienced bike master. During our five-day stay, I rented a lightweight trekking bicycle (Specialized) on two days. With the recommended route of the bike master I was able to explore the amazing scenery of the countryside around Rethymno. Rethymno itself is very busy, with lots of noise and car traffic, but as soon as you cycle into the hilly inland, the roads are very quiet. The scenery is spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Upon returning you can order a large beer at the bar next to the swimming pool.

The cleanliness and comfort of this hotel was good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are four pools which accommodate all ages. If you wake up early you might even have time for some training before the pools get busy. Location is a 5 minute walk to the beach and the nearest mini market is on site. You can easily walk to Rethymno Center, but a taxi might be more comfortable in the heat. The WiFi worked fine. The restaurant offers a buffet dinner or a la cart. The buffet was good, but you might get bored of it after a week. Breakfast was really good. The sunbeds by the pool get reserved early, even though there are signs asking guests not to do so.

Really lovely staff and comfortable main beds the children's beds seemed less comfortable but wasn't used by us brilliant food and wonderful entertainment convenient location with easy access to supermarkets beach restaurants and old town rooms are pretty basic but clean and comfortable had a wonderful week away with family

We have just come back from a week at the hotel . We had a studio room 215 overlooking the pool near the main restaurant. The rooms are basic but you have what you need. We slept with the aircon on and the fan which was no problem . We had no problem with getting a sunbed and usually didn’t get to the pool until after 10am. Yes beds are reserved early but there are a stack of beds that you can pick from and place where you need . If there’s a specific place you would like then get down there early . Every part of the pool gets the sun eventually throughout the day . The onsite supermarket is well stocked and there are plenty of supermarkets on the seafront . Breakfast is €14 and plenty to choose from. Lunch & Dinner is off the menu . If you decide to eat out you will be spoilt for choice . We ate out every night and especially liked Nostos which is round the corner from the hotel . The walk into the old town is about 20ish minutes and again some fantastic restaurants and cocktail bars . The cocktail bar at the start of the harbour was very good . The restaurants do prefer cash but will take card. Just a heads up that the walk into the old town is into the sun and hot . Would we stay again? Most definitely. It’s a 3 star hotel we used as a base to explore. Don’t expect thrills but if you want a clean hotel with exceptional staff then give it a try . A special mention to Anna on reception . A lovely comfortable stay at this hotel as part of our holiday in Crete. Very helpful staff especially Evy at reception as she arranged our trip bookings with warmth, and kindness. The lady cleaning our room was lovely too and the onsite little market works well. Wish there were bigger rooms available too, but our current one is comfortable. Close to the beach and a nice 25 minute stroll into old town. Missa the hotel cat get you into the relaxed vibe!
