Hotel l'Approdo

From the moment we arrived we were treated superbly by Antoinella and then equally as well from Marta. When an establishment has employees like these they are already way ahead of the competition.The rooms were spotlessly clean with comfortable beds .The view from the room was beautiful .A good breakfast was served each morning. We spent 3 nights here April 10 th,11th and 12 th and this was just after spending a couple of nights in Venice at the 5 star Hilton and L'Approdo would be my first choice to return to. As many have mentioned the adventure walk into Santa Margehrita can be a little unnerving but it really is not that big of a deal and it is so worth it. It is such a beautiful quaint town.We brought a small torch with us for the walk back in the dark and to make us a little more visible to the traffic. All of the restaurant recommendations given to us were great , from D'antoinio's to Dal Baffo Pizzeria or to our favorite l'insolita Zuppa. We wish we were still there . We would totally recommend this hotel , for the comfortable clean rooms ,the beautiful sea view, the great location for exploring the coast from CinqTerre down to Portofino, but especially for the excellent staff. We recently spent 3 nights at the L'Approdo during our visit to the Ligurian coast. The rooms were furnished quite simply, but they were very clean and comfortable. The rooms with balcony and view (particularly higher up) offer a wonderful panoramic vista and I'd highly recommend them. The staff was very welcoming and helpful - they even let us check-in an hour early. Breakfast choices were not lavish, but the food was fresh and offered some healthy choices. The hotel is conveniently located between Rapallo and Santa Margharita. However, the first several hundred yards towards Santa Margharita (a beautiful little village) are quite dangerous to walk since there is no sidewalk and plenty of traffic. Overall, L'Approdo is a great place to stay when visiting the Cinque Terre and I would highly recommend it.

Bus to Hotel Approdo was right across from the Rapallo train station and took about 5 minutes stopping at the front of the hotel. The hotel is set up on a small hill by the main road from Rapollo to Portofino that separates the hotel from the properties that lead to the beaches and is a 10 minute walk into Santa Margherita Ligure which is closer than walking to Rapallo. The hotel is modern with elevators and our room was a triple as I wanted space and it looked out over the harbor although we never noticed the noise from the road or the train that passes, although well hidden, behind the hotel. The bed was a little stiff for me, but there was a real shower with room to move around in. Breakfast was thorough but eggs were only self boiled, no scrambled with bacon. Wifi is free and reception was consistent from our room. The staff was very friendly and the bus stop is across the street for your return to the train station. If you must see Portofino, (beautiful, expensive, but overrated), take the bus as it is a considerable hike by foot with some parts requiring walking along the narrow roads shared with buses that honk as they take the narrow corners. Bus fares are one and a half euros.

This is an excellent small hotel . Very clean and right on the bus route for Santa Margherita and Rapallo. I had a balcony room which was great and gave a stunning view. Breakfast is extra but very nice. The staff were very helpful , but special mention to Lisa who was outstanding in her help and knowledge . Something for people to be aware of is the steep driveway .. if you struggle to walk up hills Jen it may be a bit of a challenge for you - but , all things considered it is an excellent small hotel
