The room can see the waterfall, the hotel is good or the restaurant is the best choice for the attraction. The room was simple, but the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was simple, the yogurt tasted good, the bed could not be added, and the family bed was a little crowded. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. The restaurant’s lamb chops taste very good, the local beer is bitter, but it’s great to watch the waterfall.

My wife and I had Hotel Skogar booked for two nights via Iceland Tours. We read the reviews and were not impressed. We contacted Iceland Tours and requested another hotel. None were available. We prepared for the worst. And then we arrived at the hotel. We pulled into the hotel just as registration closed at 2200, but called ahead to say we'd be in later. The friendly clerk, who as it turns out, performs many other duties, had us checked-in in no time. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Be advised there is no elevator. As we entered the room, with an actual key, I was waiting for the big disappointment. The room was beautiful, the view stunning! We had room 204 which is recommended. It is a corner room with views of the mountains, pastures, sheep, and Skogafoss! We quickly got situated. The bed linens and towels were fine, no issues. After a great night's sleep we had breakfast at the hotel. Nothing fancy but it works. Eggs, bacon, toast, cheese, cold cuts, tomatoes, cucumbers, yogurt, and cereal. The dining room was clean and well organized, and crowded at 0800! My only complaint of our stay was that the coffee ran out and was not refilled. Remember I said earlier the one guy working there was doing alot. We did not eat at the restaurant. Thete isn't much else in Skogar. Vik, about 20 miles east, is the nearest town with a small grocery store and a few restaurants, including a nice brew pub. Is it the Ritz-Carlton? No. It is a small hotel in the middle of nowhere in Iceland. The setting is gorgeous and it was a convenient stop on our way to the Eastern side of the island for Fjallsarlon and Jokusarlon. Not sure why there are such negative reviews. Hotel Skogar has charm, is clean and cozy, and is steps from Skogafoss, where GoT was filmed (last season, Jon Snow and Danaerys land their dragons here)! We would stay here again without hesitation.

This property was a little disappointing. First of all, if it comes up in a search for a hotel near Vik, don't believe it... it's not. It's about a 30 minute drive away. However, on top of that the place is ok. The cabin that we stayed in was ok, was nice that it had a kitchenette, but some of the cabin needed redone. No WIFI and very limited cell data on the phone. The biggest issue I had tho, was the communication with the management company. I never received info on how to check in (no front desk). I did eventually get in contact with them. In the instructions, they REPEATEDLY stated that checkin needed to be by 9:30 pm and that there was no after hour check in... Well, the check in is a lockbox. We went out of our way to cut our adventure short that night to get there by the check time. VERY DECEIVING. This was the most expensive place that we stayed in Iceland and the most frustrating. Honestly, I wouldn't stay here again. I don't recommend that you do either.

The hotel is located not far from the main road and is easy to find, the surrounding area is dark enough at night to see the stars.
We never saw staff in our 2 night stay but check in was easy as there was a phone available to call the staff.
The room is clean but very small, after opening up our luggage there was nowhere to stand. The room can really use a few more hooks on the wall for hanging up coats and outer gear.
The bathroom is clean but a bit dim and the water from the shower runs into the rest of the bathroom. There is very little space to put toiletries.
There is a pantry upstairs with hot water, tea and hot chocolate. There is also a dining and living area with a pool table, which is nice.
During our stay there was a crazy storm and the whole house was shaking from the wind, which was a bit scary. The windows in the room were not air tight so the wind was howling through the gaps. It was a bit loud and cold.

We stayed for one night during a tour of the South Coast. Like most other accommodation, it's self check in and is simple and easy. The cottages/huts are clean and have great views out from the main living area. Our only downside was the awful (sewer/drain) smell in the bathroom, which was immediately apparent when entering the cottage. This was our only issue with the accommodation and was fine for one night if we kept the bathroom door closed. I don't think we would have been so 'accepting' had it been for a couple of nights.

The location is hard to find. The room is small. Breakfast is OK, ordinary small hotel. But the price is still reasonable. Instead of being far away from it, there are ten independent small houses on the edge of the road. It should be good to see the aurora, but I don't know what hotel it is.

A nicely located ‘boutique ‘ hotel with a great restaurant conveniently located for waterfalls and stunning scenery nicely set back offthe ring road and only about 40 mins from Vik . The rooms in the main hotel are a bit old school and flowery in style rather than traditional Icelandic -and could do with a little remodelling . The new annex rooms are better if you want a more Nordic vibe. Otherwise very friendly and welcoming team with a good breakfast. The wild goose burger in the restaurant was awesome and the child’s burger very generous in size . Highly rated all the food we had. Slight gripe the hot tubs were a little green with algae but the views stunning .

Still very good, friends are very happy to live together, the location is on the way to Reykjavik to Vic. Close to a big waterfall. Skoga Falls or Sriyalan Falls can't remember.

Outstanding
The property is located in the isolated Icelandic countryside. It can be easily reached from the Ring Road by following the signs. Upon arrival you must notify your arrival via telephone and the managers arrive within minutes to give you the key. The room is large, as is the bathroom but it did not have a kitchen (I did not investigate whether it was possible to use the one in the building). DVD player and large DVD collection available. Very clean facility. I decided to try the breakfast (to be counted separately...): very fresh products that I liked. Very comfortable beds. Unreal silence. Nice and sociable Icelandic horses in the enclosure adjacent to the structure
GGuest UserReview Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. Fantastic location for visiting the the south coast waterfalls, glaciers and black beach, horse riding at the Hestheimar. Easy to get to Golden Circle. Close to a supermarket and couple of restaurants. There are a number of self service petrol stations along the way. The lodge itself has ovely cosy feel. Nice relaxing areas with great views. 2 hot tubs with choice of temperature. Views over Hekla volcano. Rooms are a decent size. Comfy beds, the room is clean and warm. Toiletries and kettle provided. (Only one tea and coffee though. Sure I could have asked for more but I felt awkward. Just wish they would put a few out) Breakfast was lovely. Cereals, breads, pastries, pancakes, yoghurts, jams, bacon, sausage, egg and beans. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. I really really enjoyed my time here the staff are lovely. I have two issues for feedback and they are NOT complaints. The road to the lodge is about a mile on a dirt track. In the dark you had to go very slowly for potholes. I was probably being extra careful as in a hire car. Secondly I booked way in advance and asked if I could guarantee a room with a north facing view (I was willing to pay) I was told there were no rooms specifically facing north all rooms would have good view of the Aurora if it were to appear. On arrival there were many rooms that were facing north and by then all were full. The Aurora did appear but too many lights on the cabin doors that spoil a weak display and make it hard to see. I ended up sat at the side of my lodge to see the Aurora with a coat over the light to try and darken the area I was in. Overall fantastic stay and I will return! Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. LLaurie DaviesAbsolutely stunning location, with amazing facilities including a great restaurant and a spa which is certainly unique for a hostel! The rooms were cozy, the staff were lovely. What more could you want! I would definitely recommend this place, and hope to visit again.
We had the best stay! Specacular view with Seljalandsfoss waterfall in the distance Incredibly quiet and scenic but convenient to the main Ring Road. Very covenient to taking the Ferry to Vestmannaeyjar and trips to Skogafoss, Dyrholaey, Vik, Reynisfjara, and Lava Museum. Once we had a question and communicated to the host. Within 5 minutes someone instantly came to help us out - amazing! Unit was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Highly recommended all around! Would definitely stay again!
Armot Guesthouse is a truly delightful place to stay - we would have loved to have been able to stay longer. The room was warm and d cosy and everything was beautifully presented - the beds were probably the most comfortable we have experienced on our travels. Highlights were the farm setting, the horses and the upstairs sitting room where we relaxed, listened to music, enjoyed the complimentary tea & coffee and chatted with other guests. A really good breakfast to send us on our way.
GGuest UserHotel Fljotshlid was one of the best hotels we stayed at for our honeymoon adventures in Iceland. A little secret hideaway. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The restaurant served a hot buffet in the evening, which was fantastic for those travelling and wanting a warm hearty meal after a long day. The staff were attentive and helpful. The surrounding areas were beautiful and picturesque. For those wanting to stay and chill for a bit longer, they even have books, games, puzzles and even a pool table. All this for a reasonable price. We would highly recommend this hotel.
CCloudYeahVery confortable room / beds / pillows. Water kettle and hardryer available in the room, which is no local standard. TV. Well heated. Clean. Well illuminated bathroom. Coffee and tea available in the hall. Inhouse restaurant, 2 hot pots, bar. Supermarket nearby. Unfortunately, the shower system does not work: if you are lucky, you only need to wait for ages until hot water is available. If you are not lucky, you will have to wait for your next hotel to have a shower. This was not only my experience here. For this reason, I drastically reduced my rating: had it been possible to have a shower here, this hotel would have been rated 3 points.
This hotel remembered me of a military barrack in the middle of nowhere. You have to drive 2 or 10 kilometers (depending on the direction you come from) of unpaved road to reach it. The lobby simply doesn’t exist, you only see the reception desk and some white tables and chairs, the style of a hospital cafeteria. Not a sofa or even an armchair. Rooms are minimal but comfortable, except the floor wiper present in the bathroom, that you have to use to dry the tiles since the shower is completely open. If you are really motivated you can have dinner - mainly with hamburgers - that need to be ordered in advance. Otherwise you have to drive about 20 kilometers to reach the nearest café or small restaurant. Definitely not the right place to stop if you are already a bit tired.
GGuest UserI am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your mountain cottage. As the most expensive accommodation of our week's holiday, I had high hopes and was eagerly anticipating a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, I regret to inform you that the experience was anything but pleasant. Firstly, the cottage (no 8) was in a state of disrepair, with broken glass and a board of wood hastily hammered onto the front door. The interior was equally disappointing, with a dirty and dusty atmosphere that suggested that it had not been properly cleaned or maintained. The cottage smelt old and felt cramped, leaving us feeling uncomfortable and cramped during our stay. Additionally, the bath towel provided was the size of a hand towel, and there was no bathmat or hand towels left for us to use. These small amenities are essential for a comfortable stay and their absence made our experience even more unpleasant. The walls were dirty with dust and grime, light switches were dirty, stains and dirt on radiators. Chipped crockery. Old, torn and ripped blinds. No door on the bedroom. Overall, I must say that the cottage was not worth the £150 per night that we paid. It was far from the charming and cozy mountain retreat that we had envisioned. The only positive aspect of our stay was that the cottage was warm and had hot water. I understand that issues can arise, but I hope that you will take our feedback seriously and take steps to improve the quality of your accommodations. I also hope that you will take action to address the problems we encountered.
