This is a rating for the restaurant only. Many of the items on the menu just available in the evening (not at lunch). Food quality low-wings, burger, salad not much to expect from anyway, but below par for that food category as perceived by everyone in our group. The location is nice and there was live music on the patio, as pluses.

We chose to stay at Lagoon City Pier One Resort while house hunting in the area, as it was our preferred location and we wanted to avoid driving into the city. Unfortunately, our experience at this resort was deeply disappointing. We arrived at 2 pm, which was early for check-in, so we understood that our room wouldn’t be ready until the designated 4 pm time. We decided to wait at the onsite restaurant, where the service was excellent—a promising start to what we hoped would be a pleasant stay. However, things took a turn for the worse when we returned at 4 pm to check into our room. Despite it being the official check-in time, our room was still not ready, and we were left waiting until 4:30 pm to finally receive our keys. Upon entering the room, we were appalled by the level of cleanliness—or rather, the lack thereof. The room was filthy, with no towels provided and long black hair clinging to the walls and in the shower. It was clear that the cleaning staff were more interested in lounging on the patios smoking than attending to their responsibilities. After seeing the condition of the first room and the inadequate cleanliness of the “upgraded” room we were moved to, we decided that staying at this resort was not worth the trouble. We promptly checked out and found accommodations elsewhere, which, though not as conveniently located, provided a far superior experience in terms of service and cleanliness. In summary, Lagoon City Pier One Resort failed to meet even the most basic expectations. We’ve had far better experiences at budget roadside motels, where the staff were friendlier and the service levels significantly higher. Save your money and avoid this establishment.

The hotel is extremely dirty and poorly managed. The hotel seriously needs to evaluate options for improving general cleanliness.Had one of the worst experience in my life. I went with family and they have no consideration...rooms are worst quality. Room was dust central, dust had settled everywhere and even after us wiping it off with some baby wipes it would re settle. Under the bed was filthy with dirt and dust looked like it had been forgotten about by the cleaner. Lots of insect in drawers Old broke faucet ( for fixing the faucets they charged extra , unbelievable) I wanted to write more but i think it is waste of time. It was nightmare Don't waste your money

Only stay here if your standards are low for everything but the water and beach. For reference our waterfront 2 queen bed room was $300+ for one night. Compelled to write this after fire alarm went off at 1am and no staff was around whatsoever. We had to call the fire department ourselves and no staff seen until 30min after. General Manager “Anna” had no interest in speaking about our absurd guest experience. She actually blamed me for her delay arriving to the building when she arrived well after the fire fighters did! No emergency number to call if something happens at hotel - just a sign saying “text only” number. When you text nobody responds. Later they told us the text was received they just don’t respond to you… The emergency contact number the fire dept had on file for the building was out of service. Firefighters were just as confused as I was with no staff present until 30+min after the alarm was pulled when they arrived. If someone is hard of hearing I think there’s a risk you wouldn’t hear the hallway alarm. When I attempted to speak with the GM she gave nothing that resembled customer service. GM told me had I phoned their emergency number before phoning fire dept she would have arrived faster. This emergency number she speaks of isn’t posted anywhere. She says it was given to us upon check in- we only got a room key and photo attached of that with no phone number. She said nothing empathetic or kind. Actually the opposite. She asked “so are you looking for a FREE stay?!??” They seemed to think it was petty for one to expect the bare minimum of a hotel having an emergency contact and staff on site to respond to emergencies. We lost hours of sleep and had to evacuate in middle of night with baby and toddler. We couldn’t enjoy the amenities we came for. GM told me “Pam” the owner would be there in morning at 9am if I wanted to speak with her. Next morning front desk said there is no Pam and the owners don’t ever come on site. Cons: Customer service just sucks. Upon arrival for check in customer service was cold. No info about place/amenities and very few words. Restaurant has a scallop, shrimp and mussels meal and you won’t get scallops lol. I wouldn’t say food was bad but was just ok. Dirty looking stained carpets as seen in other reviews. Rooms stink like a cottage you might be opening for the first time in the spring. Toddler said “it’s STINKY”hahah! Bathroom and entrance very cramped for space and we had a higher priced room. No emergency response plan in place other than this text only number that they don’t respond to. Expect a challenge opening the front door of the hotel from the inside… not maintained to the point where you can’t open it without learning a new skill first lol. You have to push on one side, pull on the other side and give it one big push. Upper fridge shelf will freeze your food solid. Coffee horrible with wrong kind of coffee pod for coffee maker lol. Pros: Bath tub was clean, room mostly clean and c

I would be ashamed to charge $250+ per night for the room we received. The bathroom had a chipped and rusted sink. There was mold in the shower. The bath fan was covered in dust and cobwebs. The ceiling tile was falling down. The kitchenette is ancient. The freezer in the fridge needs a thaw. The previous guests' milk was left inside. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The floors consisted of stained carpet for every step you took. There was food and a coin left on the carpet, in the middle of the room, so it hadn't been vacuumed. The furnishings are ancient. The bed is rock hard and looks to be 20+ years old. I've seen manager responses on other reviews where they say you should have requested a renovated room. I can understand charging $250+ for a renovated room but the dump they had us stay in should have been charged no more than $100. Shame on this establishment for stealing people's hard earned money

Amazing location, remarkable management/staff and great service. Lagoon City Pier One is my favorite resort for the last 22 years and counting. For those travelers looking to spend a quite and relaxing holiday , you must try this gem on the northern side of lake Simcoe.

very disappointing stay, from opening the door the room smelled very musty, the carpets could use a good cleaning, and the very tiny balcony did not feel safe, sliding doors didnt lock properly and were quite old and dirty. the water temp in the shower was very difficult to regulate. on our second night we arrived back late after the front desk had closed ( approx 11pm) our room had not been made up that day, we had been out the entire day so there was ample opportunity. when we checked in there was only a partial roll of toilet paper, when we ran out we checked the vanity in the washroom, we did not find any TP we did however find prescription medication in one of the drawers that I can only assume belonged to the previous guest. in the morning we were without water, and didnt have any towels if we did wish to shower. we addressed the issues at the front desk and they said they would take care of it right away and were aware of the problem with the water. we went for breakfast and upon returning to our room, they had not brought TP and towels as promised, we then left the resort for approx 2 hours, returned and they still hadnt been there, we left again returning later in the afternoon, and they still had not brought TP or towels, I was going to the desk when house keeping showed up with TP, towels and to collect the items from the previous guest. when we returned later that night our room had finally been serviced ( although they had not taken the trash), but we could hear a neighboring room ( walls are thin) complaining that their room had not been made up that day. we were staying in a King Suite which considering the price should have better attention to detail. very few amenities, and the shampoo and body lotions were partially used. I will say the couple of meals we had at the restaurant were good, nothing special but good value for money. the same cannot be said for the resort. they only thing this place has going for it is the location, and i think they know people will come regardless of the effort they put in. if you have another option I suggest you stay there. I would not recommend this resort unless it had a major overhaul.
