Eichardt's Private Hotel
4.7/527 Reviews
The real question is why stay in Queenstown? But if you are and want to be in the middle of everything. Eichardt’s is a lovely spot with beautiful views of the lake. We would have preferred to stay just outside of town at the Rosewood property and come in for a meal or to walk around. That said—. Pros—Small boutique hotel, only 12 rooms, tastefully decorated and very comfortable and spacious. Friendly and very accommodating staff. Cons—drinks are served each night in the Parlor. I added a photo, dirty glasses were left overnight for over 12 hours, not what you would expect in a top rated luxury hotel. Queenstown was experiencing a problem with drinking water during our stay. The hotel staff was not very clear at first, that it was not safe to drink the water; that should have been made more clear. And on the first night, the air conditioning for the entire hotel was out, with little notice or explanation to the guests. It miraculously worked on the second night. No gym or fitness center on site. Noisy location, I felt were in Greenwich Village on a weekend night, so noisy you could not leave the windows open. Breakfast was fine, but not particularly special. We would not go back and would tell friends to consider other options.
Absoloot Hostel Queenstown
4.2/553 Reviews
I couldn't fault Absoloot. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Queenstown. Room was large enough, beds comfortable and bathrooms/toilets clean. The breakfast room/kitchen is open and airy. Ideal scenery over a slow breakfast. The lounge room was filled with bean bags, books and a large TV screen. I slept there on my last night after putting up with two nights sharing my room with a loud snorer.
The Lofts Apartments

Very good location! In the town, eating and shopping are very convenient! It is also very close to the port. If you take a steamboat, you will get to the ticket exchange location in 2 minutes. Feel free to go to the lake to sit and sit... The facilities are old, but the room is big enough! Kitchen utensils are very complete The only dissatisfaction is that the water pressure is too small! The two bathrooms can't take a bath at the same time. Even if you wash your hands outside, the water in the bath will start to drop... there is no way to wash!
Lakefront Apartments,18 Lake Esplanade Road

Great location, but unfortunately no where close to “4 star”. As mentioned in previous reviews, the check-in process is a farce, with you having to check-in at the totally differently named “Lakeside Motel”, which is located next door. This would be fine if you were told this, however both website and prior email correspondence was totally devoid of any instructions informing of this process. Had I not by chance found out the next door check-in location from a random guest, we most likely would’ve spent our first night somewhere else. The apartment was immaculately clean upon arrival, however was more like a basic 2-21/2 star motel. We arrived to find one of the kitchen doors hanging off its hinges, bottom milk tray holder in the fridge broken & off its rails, & a broken rubbish bin lid on the kitchen bin. The TV had been poorly attached to the wall & hung at a 10 degree sloping angle (we adjusted by simply tilting our heads to the side after a while). Furniture looked like it was sourced on an absolute budget, with cheap mismatched settings, although it still managed to do the job. Kitchenware “bric n brac” was minimalist & cheap. However, we found the beds comfy, and the carpeting & vinyl floor coverings were clean & modern, as were the bathrooms. Heating was fine, appliances were fine, although the clothes dryer shook so violently & loudly that we decided it safer not to use. Carparking was tight, but none more so than your typical Queenstown parking offering, and being under cover was a plus. Internet was patchy, with constant needs to re-enter Wi-Fi codes, and TV channel coverage was profoundly disappointing. Nickelodeon & Sky Sports 1 seemed to be the only offerings apart from the very limited & poor quality free-to-air offerings. Daily servicing of the apartment was excellent & consistently of a high standard. The views are spectacular, the position close to town is excellent, but unfortunately, Lakeview Apartments Queenstown are a long shot from 4 stars…They’re more like a budget appointed accomodation, although they charge a premium price.
Nomads Queenstown Hostel

A great experience for a female solo traveler. I Pros I shared a female dorm with three other women and had a great time getting to know those coming in and out. The shared bathroom was always clean (cleaned every day). The communal kitchen is large and well-organised. You can make use of condiments that get left behind. As it was still cold, there are always fires burning both in reception and the common room. It makes the atmosphere very cosy. The best service I got was from their information desk, which is located in the reception area. As I didn't have a credit card and businesses like Snowbiz in town don't accept cash, I was able to pay for ski passes and rental by making a booking at the service desk (they have a card machine and also accept cash). Cons This side of the hostel where my room was located, just experiences a lot of noise, as there are bars down below, despite the sliding door being sound-proof. Not all the reading lamps for each bed work and also need to be fixed. The shower leaked a lot of water, as the glass door doesn't properly close. Overall though, a great stay and value for money. You do save on accommodation, as QT is an expensive town to visit.
Lakeside Motel

The location is very good, the real lake view room. From the outside, the building looks a bit dated, but the rooms are typical motels with clean beds. That is, the bathroom window of our room is connected to the corridor, if someone in the corridor can hear it better. There is a door between the other two standard rooms, so the sound insulation effect is average.
