Hotel Manoir Victoria

A great location. Friendly, helpful staff and the most comfortable bed - ever. Terrific location with easy access to Chez Boulay Bistro which did not disappoint. Will definitely return.

The hotel is 8 mins walk up a steep hill from Gare du Palais train station. There are 24 steps up from street level inside the hotel to reception. We had a Luxe Queen room, 37 sqm, check in is from 16.00, check out by 12.00, lovely modernised room & bathroom, our allocated corner room (527 - thank you!) also had a decent size balcony with chairs and small table overlooking Rue Saint-Jean (the main street full of people, outdoor/indoor restaurants & bars & shops), the street is closed off to traffic at 11am each day, can be noisy outside & inside the room until late, firm queen bed (small for the room though) & pillows, desk, chairs, small table, Nespresso coffee maker & kettle with tea, sugar & coffeemate milk, fridge, glasses, ice bucket with bag (get ice from machines in the basement), corkscrew & knife, tv, wifi, ipod/iPhone dock, safe, air con, blackout curtains, robes (but no slippers), all toiletries, tissues, shower (no bath), hairdryer, iron & board, large umbrella. Note, as the hotel pool is still currently under renovation, free access is provided to the pool & spa at Le Chateau Frontenac instead (just show your hotel key). There is a small shop within the entrance to the hotel, also has a wine bar/restaurant backing on to Rue Saint-Jean. Although you can safely drink the tap water, there is a filtered water refill station in the large lobby area (so bottled water is not provided), maps available on reception. The popular and busy Rue Saint-Jean is behind the hotel, can recommend restaurants Maison Livernois & Sapristi. Vidit Notre-Dame de Q Basilica, Vieux Quebec (Old Quebec), Rur du Petit-Champlain shopping street, Place-Royale central area with cozy bars, cafes, pastries, umbrella alley at Rue du Cul-de-Sac. Stroll along Terrasse Dufferin wooden 500m boardwalk and promenade des gouverneurs aside the St Lawrence river. See Le Chateau Frontenac, and La Citadelle de Quebec which has a changing of the guard every morning at 10.00, costs $22 entry inc guided tour of the barracks etc. However it is free to just look around the museum (worthwhile doing). Go to Montmorency Falls, take the blue line white shuttle bus, costs $32 return from Place d’Armes, takes 20 mins. It is free to climb the 487(!) step wooden staircase from the lower level visitor centre to get to the suspension bridge at the top of falls, or get the cable car (which costs $14 each way). We highly recommend visting Quebec City and staying at the Manoir Victoria hotel.

Excellent location inside old Quebec! Quick walk to many restaurants and shops! Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, and clean! Unfortunately the pool and fitness facilities were under renovation during our stay!
