Given that our go-to, The Frontenac, now demands a minimum 5-night stay and in-excess of $550 per night, we needed to find a different hotel for our 3-night, 4-day getaway to Quebec City. The Acadia has pros and cons, so whether this hotel will meet your needs largely depends on what you want most. Pros: Great location. You can park your car and walk to just about anything you want to see and do in the old city. Pleasant and helpful staff. Charles, who check us in and was also on the desk for our second night couldn't have been more accommodating. Spacious bedroom. Plenty of room for us, our luggage, and to spread out. Refrigerator in the room: great for allowing us to purchase and store food. Free wi-fi. Big flat screen TV (although we never turned it on.) Cons: No elevator. Not so bad for coming and going, but hauling luggage--not fun. Charles helped, but he wasn't on duty when we checked out :) The entrance to the parking lot and the lot are small. We had to pull the mirrors in on our small SUV in order to get through the alley to the lot. And spaces in the lot are extremely tight. The bedroom is spacious but the bathroom is ridiculously small. There is no sharing of the sink and mirror. Also, not enough places to hang towels. No hooks on the back of the door, just one rack over the toilet bowl. There's little room at the sink for toiletries. Given the size of the bedroom, we're puzzled as to why they couldn't have bumped out the wall to give a few more square feet in the bathroom. I found the bed uncomfortable. It's a king, with nice bedding, but it's a platform bed, no box spring. My husband was fine with it, however. Ice is available, but only after taking a long walk down hallways, up and down stairs, through doors, and then you are rewarded with ice. If you want the convenience of a great location, you can't beat The Acadia. Same if you're happy doing without luxuries or amenities. The place is relatively bare bones--but clean and comfortable. If you want breakfast on site, a relaxing bath, a sumptuous bed, a full closet, with a robe and slippers, this is not the place for you. We paid roughly $200 CA for our room, so it was definitely affordable compared with the higher end options in the city, which are no longer in our price range. I can recommend the Acadia with the listed caveats.

We had a nice stay at hotel acadia for 4 days. We were visiting for a mother daughter getaway. I was a little worried because of some of the recent very negative reviews, I can see the reason for some of them but people need to manage their expectations when booking a hotel at a cheaper rate. I would say this is a budget hotel, this is reflected in the price and the hotel itself, although I can see they are starting some renovations. This hotel definitely has a lot of potential. I wish I could give 3.5 stars, but I thought 3 was too low, so I gave 4. Here are some pros and cons Pros -Very friendly reception staff -beds were super comfortable! -great location -we booked a superior room with 2 beds, this was a nice size and had a charming quebec feel with the fireplace and brick wall. -free breakfast every morning at sagamite when booking through their website. Food was really good. -water machine and cappuccino/espresso machine in lobby, with Keurig in room. No charge to use these. Cons -cleanliness: we did feel cleanliness was lacking. There was visible dust on the vanity shelving and the bathroom just didn't seem clean, black mold on the tiles. The bathroom was dated and could use an update. Made me question the cleanliness of everything else. -no housekeeping throughout our stay -no wifi or TV for the duration of our stay in the room, they said it was being fixed but it never was. -hot tub not working, and I don't think it has been for a while. It shouldn't be advertised! -when we checked in they told us that there was a drip in the bathtub that they "couldn't get fixed before we checked in". We looked at the tub and there is a visible mark from it dripping for a long period of time. Don't be dishonest with your guests. Overall it was a good stay, we paid $150 a night with breakfast included for a superior room and I am happy with the value we got. Anything more expensive I would have been dissapointed.

We had a very nice room with a front street view. The beds were very comfortable. The location was fabulous with walking distance to everything to see. Michael, at the front desk, was very nice, friendly, and helpful.

I am a regular traveler who is used to small creature comforts, this place caught me off guard, another guest mentioned do due diligence, basic request black tea bags and milk never showed up, front desk showed interest to help never came through, non functioning printer, it's a very basic hotel, hostel would be a better description

Hôtel Acadia is a very special place in Old Quebec. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a warm, inviting and romantic flare. We stayed in the same room, on the same date in October, 15 years ago when we were engaged. Room 101 is very special. We will return again!!

We booked online and the room looked nothing like the website or this website! It was much smaller and a bit cramped. Could only get one station on the TV to work and it was in French. Having said that, the staff was nice and our stay was comfortable. Location is excellent!
