I read some of these other reviews, and frankly was embarassed by the entitlement and spoiled behavour some tourists confessed to in thier reviews. A resort this is not. However, it is 3 blocks from one of the best beaches in the world. All the best tours will pick you up at BAM market a block and a half away. The staff here is accomedating, friendly, and tolerant of me speaking English at them constantly even though its kinda rude to do that. They have a nice open roof level terrace to drink rum and hang out on at night, and enjoy an included breakfast - usually yohgurt, cut up fruit, sandwich, coffee, and passionfruit juice. This is a good location in a rapidly developing country I would recommend this spot and return someday.

Just got back from The Bravaro after travelling with my husband and stepson. The first piece of advice I would give is, depending on your age range, upgrade to adults only ,that section is well worth it, we upgraded at the reception upon arrival and you can have the best of both worlds. The main pool is lively with a DJ and to be totally honest the pool area can get a bit untidy. The monticristo restaurant is the main one and does have a very basic dress code which is basically no wet pool clothes and of an evening, cover up to a respectable level. You don't need to book the a la carte restaurants, it's first come first serve. As for the staff attitude, 20% of them either don't want to be there or don't want you there, we were told under no uncertain terms by the bar tender in the sports bar that he didn't like the British and he made it totally clear that we weren't welcome in his eyes. When my family complained about his discrimination and racism toward us we were told by the bloke on reception ”he can't understand English so couldn't possibly have said it??” Which was a total smoke screen. There is definitely a dislike toward the British. Not all staff have this attitude but it does seem to be a problem amongst some. I think Riu should invest in placing some of their English staff there to see first hand the woeful attitude some of the Bravaro staff have . The rooms are big we never had any problems, the maid only cleaned the room 3 times in a week. I will say check inside you kettle, when I first wanted to use kettle in middle of night I didn't want to put light on incase of waking others so I shone my phone torch into the kettle only to see tiny tiny mites all over the tea area and in the kettle that scurried away from the torch. Needless to say we never used that area for the whole holiday and got tea coffee from the restaurant. I am in two minds if this hotel is 5 star but I think it's higher than a 4 so I reckon its the lower end of 5. As for the work on the hotel nearby being knocked down we never heard anything until the last day but even then it wasn't a problem as not that loud.

If I could give this 0 Stars I would, Take this review very serious I have stayed in over 4000 Hotels in my life. First and foremost just DO NOT STAY HERE even if it is $50 A WEEK! I promise you anywhere is better than here. If you want to take some roaches home and start a path down the road where it will cost you or your apartment complex and neighbors hundreds of thousands to get rid of these pests, or if you already have them and you are bringing them with you than so be it, but if you are a person who cares about your hygiene, keeps a clean house and does not like bugs this is NOT the place for you. IF you want to have a nice evening inside and watch some TV after cooking a nice meal and be in a cool environment DO NOT BOOK HERE! There is no Air conditioning in the living room and the TV is like a small monitor attached to the wall that can not be moved. IF you want to have a comfortable pillow, DO NOT BOOK HERE! The pillows are the thinnest I have ever seen. If you want a clean comfortable bed, DO NOT BOOK HERE! The bed had stains of all sorts and lots of questionable black specks including baby roaches, these were dead I think, I didn't stick around to see. IF you want to have a closet to hang your cloths and a mirror to check your self out in, you guessed it, DO NOT STAY HERE!! My closet had a broken mirror that was duct taped back together and the closet door wouldn't even open. Finally if you want a reception with real security that will be available if you need anything or have a problem, DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Not 1, 2, or 3 times did I and or *********** try to contact this property to request my refund with no response but 4 times and still no reply. Also when I arrived the reception was not there and I used google translate to communicate with this guy who had no name tag or anything indicating that he worked there indicating he was security. He told me he needed payment and would need to keep my passport until payment was made but the booking was supposed to be prepaid. This was a complete crap show. They took payment is Euros for whatever reason. If you want to stay at somewhere modern, clean and comfortable, DO NOT STAY HERE!! Even if it free!!! Unless your homeless then at least it's a home. I have stayed in over 4000 hotels over the course of my life and this would rank top 10 worst if that gives you any idea. If this review helped you at all please mark as helpful and follow me for more reviews around the world.

Literally best location in Punta Cana! Beautiful renovated villas surrounded with tropical flowers and palms with private beach area. Hidden gem! The service was good. The food is good for this area. There are two supermarkets in walking distance and the villa has nice kitchen, so you can cook.

The hotel is located in a great spot, with access to numerous restaurants/bars within a 10 mins walk’s reach. The area is also relatively safe especially on the beach. I would avoid walking around after 1 am as a tourist. The included breakfast was delicious every day and showcased well the country’s culinary expertise. The Bavaro beach right next door is absolutely beautiful with the typical Caribbean beach colors! The staff was very helpful, approachable and down to earth during my stay. I did appreciate that my room was equipped with AC, but I did feel that my room was barebones and could have used hand soaps, body lotion, shampoo and a mini fridge, which is pretty standard in most hotels. Hotel cleanliness was great and I loved the ample amounts of seating areas located around each floor. Considering the affordability of the place, it was great value for money and did not disappoint!

Ok. First off I don't know how anyone could give Marcos and Magdelina anything but 5 stars. They are both fluent in Spanish, English and several other languages which made everything very easy. When I wanted to practice on my Spanish Marcos would speak with me in Spanish and when I wanted to speak in English we spoke in English. If you read the other reviews, some people were confused about where they were and reviewed this place in error. I was traveling solo in the Dominican Republic as a single woman and I was slightly worried before arriving, but the second I walked into the garden late at night to check in - all my fears melted away. The family was sitting having a casual conversation with guests and the kids were playing on the ping pong table. They welcomed me like family. The most gracious couple I have ever met. In addition to being met by Marcos and Magdalena I was also met by a friendly dog which made this feel even more like home. As far as my room went, everything was clean, very spacious, had air conditioning in the bedroom, a mini fridge and some snacks and drinks in the minibar. I settled in immediately. I also ate dinner there every night because the food was so amazing! They have four different menus to choose from, including Dominican food, Caribbean and even Polish food. All of which was absolutely delicious. The service was incredible and it was a true experience that I will never forget. I even got to play air hockey with the kiddos! I almost don't want to write this review because I'm afraid I won't be able to get a reservation when I return next year! Now let's address the fact that this is not an all-inclusive resort. This is a small bed and breakfast that is run by a family. They have a recycle mentality and everything they had is reused and repurposed and I love that vibe. If you are one that wants fancy and luxury or no culture, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're a solo traveler that wants to feel like you're part of a family 1000% recommend. I will return to see them many many times. ♥️
