I stayed at Sports Illustrated Resorts in Punta Cana for a family vacation and to celebrate my birthday. While I was excited about the trip, the experience unfortunately fell short of expectations. The resort is located on the marina, which initially seemed like a peaceful setting. However, the area has a noticeable sewage-like odor, which we were told was due to seaweed, though it felt much more unpleasant than that. The property itself also feels dated and worn, lacking the fresh, luxurious feel you'd expect from a branded resort experience. To make matters worse, on our second day we woke up to a kitchen leak in our suite. I called the front desk three times, sent videos to concierge, and housekeeping even documented the issue with photos—but it still took six hours for maintenance to arrive. I spent most of the day trying to get help, only to feel like I was being given the runaround. When alternative rooms were finally offered, they were not equivalent in terms of location or view, which added to the frustration. What should have been a special birthday celebration with my family turned into a series of inconveniences and delays. I sincerely hope the resort addresses both its facilities and guest service standards, because the potential is there—but in its current state, I wouldn’t return or recommend it to others.

We had an amazing time at the hotel — everything was phenomenal! The rooms were super clean, and the food was delicious. The pool bar staff were very attentive and helpful. There were tons of fun activities at the pool organized by the entertainment team, especially Scooby Doo, Mini Baby, Belen, and Shaggy — they never stopped keeping the energy high. I 100% recommend this place.

A cozy place with excellent service. The staff makes your stay a pleasant one. I must especially mention the manager, Ronald Rivas, who made our experience one of the best we've ever had. Thanks also to Alvy and Lewis. Wherever you go, they are attentive to you, the food is delicious as are the drinks, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious.

When we arrived, I must say the staff was awesome and very friendly! However, the facility was not what we expected! When we think/ hear Sports Illustrated, we automatically imagine, world class legendary athletes, top of the line clothing/gear, record breakers, and record breaking moments, the best commentators/photo journalists to ever report, breaking news articles and stories that make lasting impact and last, us, the fans! We thought it would be a simulated sports themed lobby with breathtaking photos and sports props. We thought the grounds would have every sport imaginable with games/gaming stations throughout the entire resort that guests could play on or with. Instead, our room 506 was dated with an early 2000s vibe with very old furniture and musty sweaty smells (in particular, the bedding/mattress). There are non working elevators that lead from the second floor to the lobby. In the gym, the athlete pictures are old, the fake turf on the floor needs to be pulled up, and the equipment could use an upgrade as well. However, the spa experience was modern and wonderful. The food was pretty good also. The beach experience was average, but the party yacht experience was below average. That's another story by itself!
