Club Esse Cala Bitta

The place and management service let's the rest of the Club Esse organisation down severely!! We have experienced apartments had no hot water and were forced to have cold showers, the espresso machine in the outdated bar was broken and neither repaired or replaced so we weren't at all shocked at all the italians complaining! The photos on their website are not true to reality as they are taken from the opposite side of their little beach. The sea is not as clean and clear as pictured, in fact there are no photos of the mini port they have which contaminate the water, why is this hidden? We were welcomed by dog poo in various ares which isn't cleaned up, hence dries and remains for days. Infact we even found it outside our apartment door!! Nobody observes rules, as no one imposes them, hence fire escapes are being used as main entrances which are stopping air-conditioning working properly. The only positive side is a wonderful room maid called Carmen who did a fantastic job and the food was wonderful. The entertainment team were great but need to be trained on how to deal with bullies, yes there was bullying amongst some teenagers, but it was just ignored as some were favoured, which we found very disturbing. I think the way this resort is run needs to be really looked at IN DEPTH and at all angles! They risk losing many clients and the organisation will get a bad reputation! The worse part is that when we complained, their customer service manners were shocking and rude. I would recommend not booking this place.

We paid £1328.40 for a 9 night stay in September 2023. We were given room number 100, inexplicably with an extra single bed in the room. (We won't complain about the extra space!) --- Good: Buffet was convenient for not wasting time and still getting a balanced diet. (We were at a festival and had lots of things to do, so saving time on ordering and paying the bill was helpful!) Lots of vegetables, salad, and fruit on offer (if a little basic at times), and decent enough quality pasta etc. On occasion we'd pay local restaurants for comparable or worse food, so we were actually very happy that the hotel food was available. Power stays on in the rooms when you leave, so you can charge batteries etc. Refrigerator. It worked and didn't make much noise. Staff were largely very helpful, polite, and friendly. The poolside bar was good for a cocktail or two. Sadly no Bloody Mary on offer, though 😅 --- Bad: Insecure luggage storage. Despite claiming they offer luggage storage, it's essentially a room where anyone can walk in and take anything. We did not feel comfortable leaving laptop computers and passports there so ended up taking this stuff to the beach on our last day, which just adds a little extra stress to what should be an enjoyable day. Mosquitoes in room. Open drain in shower felt like a liability, so we used a plastic cup to close it while we weren't showering, but not sure if this really helped. The cleaners would obviously remove it every time anyway leaving it open for much of the day while we were out. We found we couldn't really relax by the pool due to the music - sometimes some cheesy Italian ballads played very loud. Likely a matter of taste (I'm used to enjoying mellow Balearic beats in these situations), but it just feels really bizarre and frankly stressful at times due to overpowering, passionate Italian vocalists. At 2pm, just after lunch service, the entertainers run a 15 minute quiz in Italian that was so loud we struggled to even have a conversation during it. It seemed like fun and the Italian guests were enjoying it, though! Mold on wall underneath air conditioner due to excess moisture dripping from it. It was a very old unit with no remote control. We didn't notice till the last evening that there was liquid pooling on the floor which was a bit disgusting given the mold. Comforter on the bed was clearly not being washed between guest stays. Minor but noticeable stains on it that definitely were not from us. We just tried to not think too much about it. 😅 No ”Do Not Disturb” signs - woken up on the first morning by cleaners, twice, and no way to lock the door properly from inside to prevent them entering. Asked reception for a sign but they just didn't have an answer as to why they didn't have them. We ended up writing out our own and putting it up on the door, so that we could sleep in, and have our room made up in the afternoon. This worked, but for the first day we were just very tired. Everything is nice about the hotel. Service is very good, every thing is well taken care of. Room had a nice nice sit out on the ground floor overlooking the garden. All fixtures and furnishings were top quality bathroom was also well done with seepage shower and tub. All Acqa do Parma amenities. Restaurant by the pool is where the breakfast is served . Very big spread and hot dishes too . We really spent a lot of time there enjoying the food and the sun. Hotel beach is a very short boat ride 10 minutes- free service from hotel every 15 minutes- they have beds water towels all complimentary . Some drinks as well. Nice clean calm beach we had a very good time. Nikki beach is also near by the reception staff arrange for us to be dropped by hotel car (complimentary) to the place from where free not service to Nikki beach starts . It’s 5 minutes drive from hotel. There are 5 different dining options on site all are best in town. No need to go out anywhere on the island. Spa is a bit small but nice we enjoyed the saunas and showers etc. it was good experience.

The camping is in a nice remote location. It is really quiet and far from any city. If you want to go to Alghero, you can use the BeachBus which takes around 45-50 minutes to go downtown. The camping also provides a shuttle service from/to the airport (30 euros for 4 people, 45 for 7). But being remote also has some downsides. If you are without a car, you are limited to what you find in the camping. The breakfast is not well furnished. If you have half-/full-board, you get a fruit juice, a hot beverage, a very sugary pastry and 2 biscotti with marmalade. No fresh bread or cheese. You can buy some in the store, but as they know that buying here is because you cannot buy elsewhere, prices are really high. The restaurant (not a pizzeria) is also not doing its full best. First the schedule for full-board people is tight and you have to come between 12h30 and 13h30 for lunch, and between 19h30 and 20h30 for diner. So this was not ideal as we had to be ready to eat with the kids at precise time and we could not decide to come later to enjoy the sunset or do something else before eating. And the schedule is on the paper, but they usually opened 15min later. Some dishes are very good, others are just re-heated food (sometimes not even enough heated). Serving people are really friendly, be it in the restaurant or for kid’s activities. But people at the main entrance are not that friendly. We even did not get all the information when we first arrived. We had to go to some desk, which was not open so we had to come again later. And even there the information was not complete… We also arrived once with the bus from the city, arms full of our shopping, and the kids got asleep in the bus. We kindly ask them to help us with their little car to bring the kids and/or our shopping but they said that their little car was only for taking care of newcomers… About swimming: there is a swimming pool, bare minimum (no slide, no jumping platform), but swimming caps are mandatory… Who is still doing this in 2022? Hopefully you can go down to the beach in 5min walk so we enjoyed the beach a lot. Nice sand, large, quiet water with little waves, beautiful water with a lot of fishes, sea stars, octopuses and so on. There also are a lot of sea urchin so take some water shoes with you because you could easily step on one. At the beach there is a bar serving beverages and ice creams. But neither in the beach bar, nor in the camping bar could we find some real Italian gelati (ice creams). This was a big disappointment to only get these industrial ice creams when you are in the country of house-made ice creams…
