We arrived at this hotel around 10:40 PM with our two children, feeling hungry after our journey, only to find that the only food available was a couple of stale ham and cheese sandwiches—clearly ready to be thrown out—offered to us with compliments by the, albeit lovely, receptionist. The hotel appeared quite dark as it was late, and it seemed a little run-down, with broken fire doors (missing glass and extremely heavy and difficult to open). However, the rooms were clean, and we were pleased to see UK sockets conveniently placed around the room. The most surprising thing the next morning was seeing a man smoking a cigar outside our room in the corridor! As non-smokers, this was disappointing, and it was clear that the hotel is very lax when it comes to enforcing smoking restrictions. It felt like a smoker’s paradise—smoke was everywhere. We couldn’t even enjoy the very soggy, stale Greek salad from the pool bar without being surrounded by the constant smell of smoke by the pool. The food in the main cafeteria was incredibly disappointing; the cheap, lukewarm dishes were awful, with the only edible options being the fruits and desserts in the evening. To make matters worse, I found a long hair in my baked beans one morning—thankfully, we only booked for a week. The weather was very hot during our stay (18/07/24), so guests with shared swim-up facilities benefitted from the sun. However, the main pool areas were extremely crowded, and there was a lot of chair-reserving happening, especially around the kids’ pools. Overall, I wouldn’t return to this hotel. It’s certainly not worth a 4-star rating—2.5 stars would be more fitting.
