Overall this is a perfectly adequate hotel. However for the price of the room (over £300) I was expecting something exceptional. To top it off there is a daily parking charge of £15. I object to that additional payment. The staff were all helpful and pleasant. I wouldn't bother with the breakfast which was poor but the hotel is in a handy location and relatively quiet.

Hotel du vin poole  My family and I recently stayed at Hotel Du Vin in Poole ( Tuesday Oct.1st 2024 ) and we had the most perfect time. The entire team at the Hotel Du Vin were brilliant. Excellent customer service skills from start to finish. My partner and I got married the following day , the hotel kindly allowed all of my family to have a late check-out so we could go straight from the hotel to the registry office. This gesture was so greatly received from everyone. When my family arrived at the hotel, they were all surprised with an upgrade. All the rooms are superb and the entire group loved them. We had a beautiful meal on the Tuesday night and the chef , kitchen team and the waiters/waitresses did a brilliant job. The food was yummy and again , everyone from the entire group agreed. I would love to thank the entire Poole, Hotel Du Vin team for an outstanding experience and my new husband and I will definitely return at some point in the future. Best Regards, Rachel.

As a frequent diner at this Hotel du Vin I cannot praise the food and service enough There’s a great atmosphere and the staff stay for years. The food is delicious and well priced and the wines on offer are well chosen. We have just had the excellent Sunday lunch and will be back soon

We came here last week, for dinner and it was very good, The prawn starter the mushroom toast starter went down really well. Then for the main we had the chateaubraind, this was excellent, it was cooked really well to medium rare as we had requested, even the side dishes were really good. We will 100% be back if the keep serving this version of the chateaubraind, I know they do a version with a bottle of red wine (which isn’t for us), but as the waiter said the meal we ordered was on the weekly special menu, so hoping next time it will also be on the weekly special. Well worth a visit.

Our first experience of H d V was in 2004 when we held our daughter’s wedding and reception there. It was a brilliant day - made more so by H d V staff, great food and gorgeous rooms. Since then we and our family have visited HdV many times (Brighton, Birmingham and Henley) - always the same - great rooms, food and service. Not this time - so disappointed. The room in Poole was in The Mill House just down the road from the main hotel. Shabby entrance and the door onto the street needed repairs - did not close easily so was often left open by other guests (security issue?). Our ‘de luxe’ room was small and unwelcoming. The thermostat was broken and showed a spanner symbol in the display. One bedside lamp was not working - making the room very dowdy. The bathroom was the usual great H d V room but it appeared the towel rail controls had been removed leaving a large patch of flaking plaster - and a fixed temperature (useful for us to leave door open though as no heating in bedroom!). Dinner on the first night was great. Breakfast the next morning was not! Eggs Benedict was cold with congealed hollandaise, full English was merely warm. Couple on the next table were complaining to a waiter who seemed totally indifferent - so we didn’t bother. Next morning only one waiter and we decided to go for 2 English breakfasts - same again merely warm on cold plates. Asked for a pot of tea but request ignored by waiter. Sorry he appeared to be the victim of under- staffing but he was more interested in cleaning and setting up the tables than in the guests. I hope the other H d V’s haven’t gone the same way.

Driving around Poole is not the most pleasant of experiences. Finding the hotel also proved tricky. I must emphasise that this hotel is NOT SUITABLE for anyone with walking difficulties e.g. accessing stairs and steps and certainly not for anyone in a wheelchair. Apparently the hotel is a listed building and therefore the management does not have to comply with the DLA. There is room for a maximum of 8 cars, I would say, in the hotel’s car park. There is a daily/nightly charge for this which isn’t exactly flagged up prominently on their website. The rooms are not particularly soundproof. There is an excellent choice for breakfast of cereals, fruit juices, yogurts, teas, coffee etc as well as choices for a cooked breakfast, freshly cooked to order. There is also a good choice for dinner. The hotel is very well placed to walk around old Poole or the newer quayside, where all the boat trips leave from. The staff were all most helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable.

Just enjoyed a perfect night away for our anniversary. Stayed in deluxe room ‘Grange’ which was super stylish & pristinely clean. All the staff were friendly & welcoming from the reception team to Carlos in the bar & lovely Anne who gave superb service in the Bistro. Dinner was excellent & we so appreciated the kind gesture of pre dinner cocktails. A really special stay in a place that is very special to us. Thank you Hdv Poole.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel du Vin Poole for 2 nights at the end of August, one on each side of a two-night stay in London. Our reservation was influenced by friends' recommendation of the Hotel du Vin chain and the Poole hotel lived up to expectations. We had a different room on each of the two nights but both were of an equally high standard - immaculately presented and well equipped. On both nights we ate at the hotel restaurant which had a great atmosphere and, most importantly provided good quality dining and wines. Ann, our waitress on both nights and the Bar Manager (whose name I didn't note) added to a really good dining experience. This is a really good hotel that we would enthusiastically recommend; proximity to the ferry port, Poole's quayside and old town and the railway station for onward travel make it ideal. We can't comment on breakfast - onward travel on both days meant we had to give it a miss. But next time........

Really really good service from all the team at the hotel and bistro. Checked in and received a free upgraded room. Lovely food and drink at the bistro, Ann was very helpful and gave excellent service. Great value for money. Very comfy bed and brilliant room. Will definitely be returning.
