Haven Hotel

Nice hotel, good location, reasonable prices, great food, very helpful front of house/concierge member of staff. Room was lovely, good size, all the amenities necessary, spa facilities were on point. Only downside was lack of proper sound insulation in the room. Could have used more sea food options on menu.

My husband and I were staying at your sister hotel,Harbour Heights but used the pool and spa at The Haven . We both had a full body massage by Achala ,which turned out to be one of the best massages we had ever had , such a lovely caring professional young lady . Thank you ,we wish her well .

We stayed for two nights and were very disappointed. This hotel is old tired and desperately in need of a revamp. Described as 4* it is barely a 3*. The bathroom had a shower in the bath and an old shower curtain! Given the age of the clientele this is an accident waiting to happen. Breakfast was DIY canteen style with hot food served in warmers and tea and coffee machines, no table service. The staff were all very pleasant but the overall impression was a tired old building trading on its past glories, as exhibited by the dusty old plates in the display cabinet proudly displaying the AA ratings from 2003.

What a wonderful location with the most amazing views. I sat on my balcony for hours watching life on the waves!! I was travelling with my dad who at aged 90 has some slight mobility issues and he struggled with the steps everywhere particularly as you arrive. I would have expected more ramps and staff assistance given that many guests were elderly when we stayed. We were also concerned about the lift which was very small and ancient and had apparently not been working just before we arrived. The staff were lovely and friendly. However we felt sorry for them as for all 3 days coffee machines were not working at breakfast. On one day both were broken and queues were long and guests irritated! There were issues with the kitchen on Friday night which led to a limited menu being offered to a fully booked restaurant. Again guests were unhappy and the poor staff dealt with this. Finally, we were asked to pay when we arrived for our full stay and were then unable to charge meals and drinks to our room. This was very unusual and inconvenient! All in all a lovely break but a disappointing attention to service and accessibility particularly for older guests.

The best customer service, location and experience there is. We our wedding breakfast as a beach party just outside the hotel in glorious weather and then spent the night at the Haven as newly-weds. The hotel staff were very accommodating and even styled our lovely room as a bridal suite, it was fantastic. Breakfast the next morning with a view was outstanding.

This is a 3 star at a real push. The facilities and rooms are worn and dated (see pics). The layout of the family room was great with a separate bunk room. You couldn’t actually shut the door to the kids room as they’ve jammed the door behind the bed. Breakfast was of a standard that I wouldn’t want to try eating anything else. The whole thing needs a major facelift. The staff range from disinterested to shocking. The spa was the worst of it. They couldn’t sort out their own booking system. The staff don’t speak English well enough to actually take a booking over the phone. I was taken into the treatment room 15 minutes late but the massage ended on time so I ended up paying £70 for less than 30 minutes. No robe was offered although I did see other people in them. The beds are hard and the pillows aren’t much better. The pillows are thin and stiff. This would be a very bad choice for anyone with a back issue.

I haven’t given an average score because overall the hotel location and facilities were very good and what I was going for. However, the restaurant dinner we had was average and our bed in our room was small so much so we slept top and tail one night and then second night I slept on the floor. I didn’t complain about the bed as it was a standard double room, but maybe the hotel should consider putting in bigger beds. Breakfast was good but they need to have more than one coffee machine. Staff are very pleasant and helpful enough

On arrival we got to our room which was quite small. We checked at reception and paid for a larger room which was worth every penny. Hotel was in a lovely position, and we sat and watched the frequent boat movements in and out of Poole harbour. For us the highlight of the stay was the dinner taken in the point restaurant on the first night. Simply the best meal we have eaten for a very long time.
