Looking for a place to spend the night while visiting a friend. Room space is up to standard and the hygiene is at par. One hiccup is during check-in, the hotel system indicated that I need to settle payment upon arrival, but in fact I have already paid up in advance. The front desk (sorry I have not asked his name) was helpful enough to sort out the problem and settled it in 5 minutes time.

Arrived to be told we had only booked a single room when we clearly booked a double. This was rectified with some persistence. We asked for a table for food at 5.30pm and was told that the kitchen “needed things to be filtered in” despite there being only 2 other tables eating and had to wait till 7.30pm. We asked if we could just order at the table we were already at at? The answer was no. Other customers arrived and ordered food from that point and it wasn’t questioned. We eventually got some food - ordering starters and mains and were very clear in asking for them all together. Starters arrived and no sign of the other items - so I then went to query where the other food was? The man on the food service (who quite honestly couldn’t have been any less use in anything we asked) looked at me confused and said oh yes she forgot to tell the kitchen that you wanted it together. So I said ok? So what’s happening then? He replied “oh? Do you want me to see where it is?” Well I’m not up here querying it for fun am I?!!! So I reply yes please? Food then arrives 10 minutes later with NO apology whatsoever- didn’t need the chips that I had ordered to accompany my starter at this point but seeing as we had waited nearly 30 minutes for it, I ate them. The bar lady arrived and tipped drinks all over a member of our party from clearly overloading a tray with too many drinks. Just generally a terrible experience all round with staff that literally couldn’t bother about giving any sort of customer service, even at a basic level.

Arrived at around 9pm. There was no reception, just a display screen where we entered our car registration details but apparently there is another machine somewhere where you need to register your vehicle. Some recieved a £100 parking fine a week later. They also had to bring 3 different cots to our room before they found one that was not broken.

There was a problem with the checking in machine which meant a long queue while the receptionist tried to check people in as well as doing other things. Our room was fine other than a creaky floor. We managed to park- they have additional parking, not well signed posted but it is there. We went out, came back and realised the room above also had a creaky floor. It was a little annoying but we were watching tv and not over concerned as people need to walk around a bit. We both woke up, sometime after midnight, the people above were walking about and the floor noise was really annoying. It felt like it went on forever. They weren't stamping or anything, as our floor made a similar sound with walking. This went on for a while, we just kept saying that at 3am they won't be walking for long. Eventually we got back to sleep, but was really frustrating to have been kept awake for so long . We couldn't catch up on missed sleep because we had breakfast booked and were then leaving. When we checked out we mentioned the awful floor. The receptionist said, oh haven't you see the reviews, it's a known problem. Sorry, fill in the info on here and you will get a refund, i will make a note So we did the sleep complaint form thingy. And because we didn't report it at 3am they won't refund anything.

The hotel itself was nice and tidy. Albeit a very creaky floor, however this did not cause any sleep disturbance. The foyer area is nicely decorated and I like the vending machines at the lift. The reason for 4 stars was because of the restaurant. Incredibly slow, wrong meals given, hard butternut in one of the meals. It was a real disappointment!
