A la Villa Creole

We intended to stay in Pondicherry for two nights but ended up staying longer because of this lovely relaxed place. The wonderful owners Dominic, Sam and Ranjith have worked in hospitality for many years and finally opened up there own business here six months ago. They have four cosy, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean rooms for 1000 to1500 rups and they plan to convert the roof space area to accommodate travellers on a tighter budget. The food was truley delicious and we even had breakfast in bed in our beautiful room. WiFi was the icing on the cake! I would say I was quite fussy and this place is great value for money and a great choice if you like the personal touch. Sharon, Scotland

First of all, the hotel is not in a century old historic building as claimed. It is a old and unmaintained building behind and you will get a feel that you are entering into soucarpet while entering the narrow entrance and steps. Gave me room in third floor. Old and leaky washbasin Faulty toilets (flush was not working) Good for nothing AC (Ice started falling from AC) Rooms are dying for maintenance. You can see paint falling off from walls all over the room. Dust accumulated in window and door. Asthma patients must stay away Never had this bad stay in my life

I had around 12 hours before I boarded my bus from Pondicherry. I was pissed because my last stay at Time Travellers Hostel in Auroville was beyond horrible and I was almost sceptical about everything. As soon as I arrived here, a certain calmness washed over. The room, the sheets, the bathroom everything clean and neatly kept. The hosts were absolutely polite. Its right in the centre. Some good cafes and restaurants in 1km distance. You can walk straight to the beach from here, We needed a auto at almost 12 am, when I mentioned this to the host he told me, not to worry it will be there. I was fast asleep when around 11.30 he woke me up and asked if he can send the auto. 12am the auto was at the doorstep. I am writing this just to show you the efficiency and the effort they put to make you comfortable. This was almost the price i paid at that thrashy hostel. Even if you are a solo traveller, shell a little more and stay at this place. I found this super affordable splitting with my friend. If i ever go back, i will not have a second thought as to where to stay.
