I guess this hotel has to be reviewed on the basis that it is a very cheap place in the middle of a very expensive town. The pros are that it is in an excellent location with large, comfortable beds, good air conditioning, a large fridge, microwave and electric hob and a lot of storage space and has friendly staff. The cons are that it is very basic in terms of facilities, the rooms are small, there is very little equipment in the kitchen and it needs a proper deep clean ( there were cobwebs, the bed head was very dusty and there was a lump of hair stuck on the back of the loo door which other reviewers have mentioned). The rooms also have very thin walls and the staff have very poor English. Also the breakfast was pretty dismal and when we had to leave early for a trip before the time when breakfast could be brought to the room, they were not willing to put it in the fridge for our return. In conclusion it was sufficient for our needs since we planned to be out for most days and it was near lots of restaurants and the beach so good value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotelito del Mar for many reasons! The rooms are very spacious so instead of a room you get a small apartment with a lovely kitchen dining area and a nice bedroom with a comfy king bed. The apartment don’t have see view but there’s a lovely palm just outside. Air conditioning works well, good size wardrobe and good bathroom. Whatever you need extra you can just ask and the staff will give it to you. We stayed 10 days but we could easily stay longer as it was super comfy. Nice to come back to our nice little apartment every day and find it clean and tidied up by the maid. I travelled with my partner and little baby and we really needed to stay in a comfortable place and it was. The staff was super friendly and helpful and always super nice with our baby girl. Especial thanks to Gina, the receptionist, she has been super professional and at the same time kind, it felt to have someone to try on for everything for our all stay. The swimming pool also is very nice but unfortunately we didn’t use it as we were very busy doing trips and going to the beach . Playa it’s a great place for that and we made the most of it. If at any time of my life we will go back to Playa we will go back to the Hotelito. It’s in quieter area of Playa and it feels super safe. Thank you again! Martina, James and little India

First of all, do not understand from where are coming all those good reviews. The hotel definitely needs better maintenance, the furniture is dated, not clean, and the sofa needs profound cleaning. Hotel staff is not especially nice and welcoming. They barely respond hello to you. If you do not leave enough tips for the maid, you will not receive a proper cleaning of your room. Everything in the room is counted, starting from cutlery. Literally, if you are 2 people, you get two forks, etc. There is no bottle of water waiting for you in the room or any other courtesy. Towels - I have never experienced such low-cost, washed towels in the worst hotel I have visited in my life (after drying all the cotton stays on your skin). The main lady from reception is very gossip, so do not think is the good image for the place. Overall, we were not pleased with the stay, and we will not recommend or come back and to Playa del Carmen as this place became not friendly place for tourists.

To me, the location is great — away from from the noise of la Quinta, yet still very close on foot. The staff at the reception was very friendly and reactive, as was the rest of the staff and the cleaning services. A special thank you to Selene and Gio for their advice and kind words during my stay.

Would definitely recommend! Clean. Reasonable rates. Friendly and helpful staff. Great little roof top patio with pool and lounge area - watch the sunset! We were treated to one complementary room service breakfast. Location is great ＞ away from the hustle/bustle, but close enough to walk to lots of dining/5th Avenue, a large grocery store and banks. My only dislike was the firmness of the mattress - it was too hard for my comfort. Hope you get the chance to visit!

Spacious and Comfortable Room Very good ACs, clean, frienfly staff, good kitchen, great location, there is a collectivo station close by, ask the staff for directions The breakfast is not good though, I skipped it. Still good value for money.

I stayed for almost a month at hotelito del mar during May 2022. The room feels like a one bedroom appartment. It is very cozy, clean, with a functional kitchen. The location is great, you can walk everywhere and it is a very safe neighborhood. I guess what really stands out is the staff. Everyone in the hotel is super friendly and helpful, it feels like being at home. Thanks guys for making me so comfortable. Totally recommend Hotelito del mar!

The hotel is well located, it is easy to get to Fifth Avenue and the pick-up point for any tours you have. They were very attentive, everything was very clean and super special, I would return and recommend it without hesitation. Our stay at the hotel was unparalleled. The room is super large, almost a mini apartment and has everything you need for your stay. The air conditioning works perfectly, there are 2 TVs in the living room and the bedroom, a dining table and in the kitchen what you need to prepare quick meals in your kitchen, the refrigerator works well and there is a coffee maker, which is appreciated. . The room is cleaned every day, with a change of towels and everything that is needed. The pool on the top floor is small, but enough to relax after a busy day of touring the Riviera Maya. The hotel is located a few blocks from 5th. Avenue so you can go out to dinner or lunch there without a problem. The neighborhood is safe. And also, during our stay it was my boyfriend's birthday, and beforehand the communication with the hotel was super efficient to prepare a surprise, and they kindly helped me with all the details. Really 100% recommended this hotel!! The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast, which is very basic and is served from 8:30 (could be earlier). We stayed for 9 days, and we almost didn't have breakfast there because the tours we took picked us up very early, however the couple of times we did it we felt that with a little more effort it could improve and if they served it earlier, it would be perfect!

Great value for money. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We had a small breakfast included, which was brought to the room. In the evenings we were able to cook ourselves thanks to a kitchenette in the apartment. We had a small balcony and we used the pool on the roof. We felt very comfortable and can only recommend Hotelito del Mar.

The hotel is a quite nice place. The rooms are more of a studio than a hotel room, therefore the rooms are quite spacious, they have what is necessary for long stays. The bed is quite comfortable so I rested quite well after a day of tours. And being on the beach, the terrace on the top floor is nice to watch sunsets and the pool is refreshing. The staff is quite friendly and willing to help with any questions. I consider the location to be perfect because it is in a fairly quiet part of Playa del Carmen but it is not far from where the attractions are, there are cheap restaurants nearby (if you don't want to pay the costs of the restaurants on the 5th), supermarkets, convenience stores, etc I also liked that the tour pick-up points were quite close to the hotel compared to other hotels that I had seen more in the center, the beaches of 38th Street and Mamitas, which according to locals are the most beautiful, are also quite close.
