Have just returned from the caravel and enjoyed lovely weather however although the hotel has some good points there are a few issues. On the positive side the staff are amazing and work very hard. Had no issues with drinks round the pool as ive seen on other reviews. The pools are lovely and the pool snack bar is great. My issues are with the general appearance of the hotel as parts are well overdue a revamp. The entertainment area outside the main restaurant has wooden decking which is rotten in many places and gives way leaving dangerous trip hazards. The back cushions on the seating are worn with no support so your back is on the concrete. Quite a few of the sunbeds are old wooden ones which are worn and battered as are the little tables at the side of them. My main gripe was the room. We stayed in 900 block which we thought was one of the better ones as some rooms appear to have damp issues. The room itself was spacious but it was basically a concrete box roughly skimmed with plaster and whitewashed. No finesse or luxuries at all. Bearing in mind this is a 5* at a price reflective of this ive stayed in better 3* accommodation. It was tired and poorly maintained. Again it needs revamping and money spending on it. Ive included some photos to highlight some issues. Also bear in mind as this is a 5* there is a local tax of €15 per night ie €210 for a fortnight ! Ive never been to zante before so i dont know how well the caravel compares to others but this review is just my thoughts on it. Im sure others will love it but its all subjective and everyone has different expectations. This unfortunately didnt meet mine

This is our 3rd year at Caravel and our 2nd year having the Cretan massage at the Aegeo Spa. I had Fatma who was very thorough and attentive, and made the experience very relaxing from start to finish. I would highly recommend any treatment at the spa, but particularly the Cretan massage for full relaxation.

Nora was fantastic, feeling very relaxed! The whole experience was great. This was third year at caravel and the spa has been fantastic everytime. We will definitely be coming back for another treatment / massage

Fantastic massage by Fatma. Would recommend. Very relaxing and she got lots of knots out of my neck. The scalp massage at the end was amazing
