Good location near the tower, but worn furniture and fittings, a basic bathroom, a leaky bidet, and a dated air conditioning system. Breakfast only starts at 7:45, but it's OK. Service staff are moderately friendly. Just about acceptable for one night, but despite the location, I wouldn't stay again!

Medium sized Italian hotel in great location next to Pisa Tower, very short walk to historic area and busy town life. Hotel is popular and well worn on stairs, reception very helpful, multilingual and provides town map. Hotel accommodated allergy requests, we were blessed with a seated balcony at rear of property, room clean and had all amenities for short stay (no hot drink or fridge facilities in room) but restaurant downstairs for additional cost. Towels, soap provided and TV, hairdryer and air con in room. Book hotel transfers at reception as far more reasonable. Approximately 20-25 min walk from Pisa Central station and there’s a mini metro from train station to airport (just make sure you leave central station in right direct re town to airport).

Save as many as you can. Don't be fooled by the 4.2 rating of Shakou. Apart from being close to the tower, it has no advantages. It has a strong musty smell and is full of dust. The sound insulation is terrible. The voices of the people in the next room can be heard clearly, and you can be woken up by the tour groups in the morning. 😅😅😅😅😅😅
