Hotels near Centro Espositivo San Michele degli Scalzi, Pisa

I booked this hotel after seeing another reviewer say that they stayed here as a solo female traveller and found it clean and safe. I would echo this reviewer's comments. I stayed here for five nights, and used Pisa as a base to travel to other places (namely Lucca, Firenze, and Siena) so wanted somewhere within a reasonable walking distance of the train station as I envisioned returning to the hotel when it was dark. I took the 'Pisa mover' shuttle from the airport to Pisa Centrale station (which cost €5 and took around 5 minutes), and then the walk to Hotel Bologna with my suitcase was in pretty much a straight line through the main square and down paved and well lit streets. It took around 7 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. I arrived at Hotel Bologna at around 10:00 and was able to leave my suitcase in a secure room (no charge) whilst I spent the day exploring Pisa. I came back around 18:00, collected my case, and formally checked in (although I could have checked in at 13:30) before heading out for dinner. Staff were mainly young and male, and were pleasant and spoke very good English. I was allocated room 16 which was on the first floor and overlooked the small car park and a patio area. There was no external noise apart from the odd aeroplane which cannot be helped anywhere in Pisa, although I imagine that (1) people might use the patio for drinks in better/warmer weather which would bother me if they were rowdy; and (2) people in the rooms which overlook the road at the front of the hotel (Via Giuseppe Mazzini) might experience a bit of traffic noise. The internal walls seemed quite thin and I suspect that the bathroom of the adjoining room was located right next to my bed as it was noisier than expected when they were having a shower and talking in the bathroom. However, luckily, the people next door weren't particularly noisy and showered at a reasonable time, so it didn't bother me per se. I stayed in a single room (single bed with en-suite) which was definitely big enough for just myself/did not feel cramped. The room was decorated in a more 'traditional Tuscan style' (think greens, reds, and golds) so not particularly 'instagram worthy' but neither am I. The room and bathroom felt and were kept very clean by housekeeping, as were the bedding and towels. The bathroom contained a toilet, shower cubicle with sliding doors, bidet, sink with large mirror, tissue dispenser, sanitary bag dispenser, toilet brush, bin with lid, and hairdryer. You receive complimentary shampoo, body wash, intimate wash, vegetable based soap bar, shower cap, and shoe sponge. In the bedroom there is another bin and a desk and chair with large mirror. Underneath the desk is a mini fridge containing a range of drinks and snacks, which I removed and instead used the fridge to store my own food and drink which I purchased from a Carrefour Express minimart which was a circa 5 minute walk away near the main shopping street. Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 days and we loved every minute ! It was amazing ! People were lovely and anything we needed help with such as public transport or ordering a taxi they were happy to help. We booked breakfast included which was definitely worth it as the breakfast had a variety of options and it was delicious. The location of the hotel wasn’t in the central of Pisa but still a great place to have it and a bus stop is right outside the hotel so once we had figured out the bus system it was super useful. Overall a great hotel and great customer service.

The service is good, no milk and eggs for breakfast, no problem with full control, very close to the leaning tower, 5 minutes walk. The front desk service is very good, and I am very patient when printing tickets and train schedules. Call the door if you arrive late at night. The yard was locked, and General Iron kept the door. As soon as I arrived in Pisa, I experienced a gypsy thief, and I found out that there was no loss in time.

It was impossible to call her room, it was impressed by how bad she was kept; a masked coat in several points, a so dirty-weather bed structure that beige (original) had become grey full of maches. Mobiles and walls broke, the furniture covering the refrigerator was pendled as the Tower, a thermoconvector full of dust and dirt, and not working until the staff intervened to change the thermostat batteries. The OSCEN bathroom!! The muffa impregnated everywhere: in the shower structure, and between the plates, around the ports. broken plates. tricking bidet. water axes destroyed. red tubes. We complained with the staff (should we call him like this) at the reception of the stupid room, well, HAVE GODY! , admitting the problems, but they didn't change our room. Fortunately we stopped only one night. Entry hotel with all-in-destructive and careless teaching. And this already makes you think. The rest of the structure without care, everything ”got there”. It's NOT more!! The manager should be ashamed of calling it 3-star hotel.

I booked one day to just sleep over at this place, but really loved its service and the facilities. Breakfast was tasty and had multiple options. The only minus is the location, which is around 25 minutes' walk to the city center and 40 minutes to the railway station.

I must have started this review about 5 times because I don't really want to be negative, but then again I don't want to be positive either! We stayed here for one night, and it was enough - much like Pisa itself I feel - one day/night is enough! The location is well out of Pisa - taxi will cost in the region of €25, but if you like the idea of their thermal pools, saunas, etc it's worth it. Our room was a split level - bed above the en-suite with a decent sitting/chilling area downstairs. However I use the term ”chilling” ironically because the AC couldn't get near coping - despite having it working as hard as it could for the entire stay, it only managed to cool the room by less than one degree celsius. Opening the windows didn't help, but they opened into a corridor anyway, so privacy was a concern. Once you actually see a member of staff in the thermal baths/spa area (they seem to be rather sp**** and stay hidden - pretty sure I read that in someone else's review), they are lovely, but I genuinely felt awkward asking them to show us around - which is what the hotel receptionist had told us to ask! When we checked in, we were informed of a ”party” being hosted on the terrace that evening with food (not beverages) costing €90 each. We may have been tempted, but decided that given we were only there for one night, we'd eat in Pisa itself. On returning to the hotel we grabbed a couple of drinks at the bar and were invited (by who appeared to be the Food and Beverage manager) to enjoy our drinks on the terrace with the live music still playing - this was lovely and very thoughtful - certainly the highlight of our stay at the hotel. All in all, it's somewhat aged and needs a bit of TLC, possibly understaffed a little, and in a rural location. That said, the staff are very good and the location makes it wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. The thermal baths are beautiful and somewhat unique so it's very ”different” and for a night-or-two, you can't go wrong. I don't regret booking it, and if the AC had worked, so would probably have been a far more positive review.

We have just stayed here for 1 week and it was absolutely amazing! Such a rustic Italian villa with all the amenities you would need. If you want authentic, family feel, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere within a 10 minute drive into Lucca and central to visit all other Tuscan regions, then this is your place! The staff here are so helpful, kind, really do care and want you to be happy and get what you want and need. The restaurant is open for breakfast, for lunch for snacks and if you fancy that added extra something special the restaurant is open in the evening, almost fine dining style with some very good food. The pool is so close to the rooms and enjoyable to sit by and chill. The pool is not heated and would imagine in the summer the sun warms it up. We were there is May and although a bit cold when first walking in, after lying in the warm sun it served to cool you down. The grounds are beautiful and the setting of the villa is so picturesque. They have e-bikes and mopeds available to hire and always willing to advise re days out, train times and order taxis etc Lucca train station is only 10 mins away 20 euro one way. There is lots of parking if hiring a car. The hotel is a a 28 min drive from Pisa Airport but you could arrange a taxi (maybe pricey tho around 70- 90 euro), if having a car you can easily find way round local area with google maps or access the train station and you can take trips to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, Siena and many more places to see. We were sad to leave the hotel Villa staff as all have been wonderful. We will definitely return and also recommend to stay here

Great place for our school trip. From the booking until the check out, excellent communication and service from Francesca, but all the staff was really nice and helpful! Location is simply ideal: the beach is right there! Our students were totally enthusiastic. The sports facilities were a big plus. You can have a calm breakfast at the café, and then delicious lunch and dinner at the restaurant (the frito misto is the highlight of the menu). There is also a small supermarket satisfying all the essential needs. My students and I totally recommend the Mare e Sole camping!

Hotel d'affaires, impersonnel, sans charme mais qui fait l'affaire pour une étape d'une nuit. Pas de cuisson, mais mini-bar (payant) dans la chambre. Room with bathroom (sans peinture, mais avec articles de douche). Restaurant room at the floor: very good entrance (pastes), very good main meat (heated meat printing), excellent dessert (chocolate tranche). Breakfast is also available for the most important guests.
