During the May Day holiday, I brought my children to Pingyao Ancient City. Walking through the bustling streets and entering Jinzhai, the hustle and bustle of the outside world was immediately cut off by the heavy wooden door, leaving only the tranquility and leisure of the courtyard.
Afternoon tea is especially worth experiencing. Order a pot of old Pu'er tea, with snacks and fruits, and look at the people coming and going outside the window, like watching a movie. This "slow down" time is probably the most healing moment of the journey.
If you are tired of the same old hotels, the elegance of Jinzhai's "hidden in the city" is worth a special trip to experience.

I've found out about Jinzhai in the middle of COVID and wanted to stay here in for years. It met all my expectations and more! All the staff were incredibly generous and sweet with my daughter. Just book early because not many rooms are available and may book out fast with tour groups. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

The biggest surprise of the holiday in Pingyao Ancient City was the "Jinzhai" where we stayed. It was a perfect combination of ancient elegance and modern comfort. Every detail and every object was carefully prepared, and the staff's delicate service was just right. These are all things that cannot be experienced in large hotels. Highly recommended!

The design of the public space is great, but the rooms are average. The breakfast price is 220 per adult and 110 per child. There is no mineral water or coffee bags in the room. The room rate of more than 1,000 per night is still shocking.

Great hotel at a great location inside the Ancient City. Accommodations are really well maintained and looks like just renovated, while keeping the historical ambiance.
Hotel staff speaks English and were very caring during our stay.
