I recently stayed at Premier Inn Peterborough Hampton, and for £277 for two nights, I expected much better. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. First, there was no water in the room, no iron, and no phone to call reception—you have to go downstairs and ask for everything. The water they provide is in a glass at the front desk, or you can buy a bottle from the vending machine for an outrageous £2.70. The shower unit was old and tatty, and the hot water didn’t work properly. The sink splashes water everywhere because it doesn’t open fully, making it messy and inconvenient to use. The pillows were completely worn out and thin, offering no support—felt like sleeping on a sheet. Housekeeping was another issue—even if you leave the sign on the door requesting a clean, they still don’t clean the room unless you also tell reception (which I found out the hard way). Staffing levels were poor—only one receptionist at a time, always busy, meaning you have to wait a long time to be served. The hotel also has long corridors with no staff around to assist if needed. For the price, this stay was absolutely not worth it. You’d expect better service, working amenities, and basic comforts without having to constantly chase staff. I wouldn’t stay here again.
