Really friendly place to stay with lovely food and ales. Only issue was the shower was quite feeble. Enjoyed our visit thoroughly. Great location. Great breakfast with choice of continental and/or cooked breakfast. Dinner was lovely and affordable. Close to geothermal pool and great old seaside pubs.

The Yacht Inn is opposite the ferry for the Scillies. We decided to stay locally to save a three hour drive in the middle of the night. We had a lovely overnight stay, lovely breakfast before strolling across the road and making our departure. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Food very good. Generous portions and good value. The hotel is under refurbishment and look forward to returning when complete. Our double room was small but very clean and tidy with great thought given to detail

We had a lovely afternoon tea here. We sat in the resuataurant overlooking the sea. The food is just that bit different from the normal with home made  chicken liver parfait followed by fingers sandwiches. Then lovely scones with lashing of clotted cream served in serpentine bowls. And to finish browned and lemon drizzle, again, all topped in clotted cream. And all the staff were so friendly. Would highly recommend

Booked for Afternoon Tea as a birthday treat for my friend. The Yacht Inn is a traditional pub on the seafront with pay parking directly outside. Its a great location for the Lido and a few minutes walk to beautiful Morrab gardens and Penlee Park. Afternoon tea was perfect staff were lovely, sandwiches tasty and great selection of cakes. The pate and toast were an excellent addition. My friend really enjoyed her treat, and said what a nice afternoon she had had. Thank you 😊

Came in for Sunday roast. Was one of the best I had. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Was greeted as soon as we arrived. Good choice for carvery. Each dish was delicious. Have tried a lot in Penzance and this was the best we’ve had for a while. Would highly recommend

When we checked in, the woman on reception asked if we'd like help with our bags which luckily I accepted after at first refusing. She took us into a room saying they had given us a bigger room and it would be quieter 'as we have council people in, and they can be noisy'. I said the view wasn't the one I had booked - which I remembered as I wanted that room so my husband could enjoy the view even though he can't walk far. So she took us to the right room, actually further along the (short) corridor with a very much better view. Not sure what that was all about. We read the room information provided and it said if we needed the heating on just ask, so I went down to reception and did that, a different staff member there put it on and said it would be on all night. We went down to eat at 6 pm, a very chatty barman. Entertaining and friendly. The menu was different to the one provided in the room (which was also different to the one on the website...) Eventually we ordered something. OK but not good, and not very hot. We went up to relax and watch TV, the heat was off but we thought it would come back on, by the time we realised it hadn't I didn't feel like going downstairs again so we put the bath towels on the bed (lovely big ones luckily - one of the few pluses), and were warm enough, though very cold when we got up in the morning. There wasn't much noise, just the doors shutting, and there was no way of shutting them quietly as they were Yale locks. Plus the people on either side were coughing rather a lot. After a not very good sleep we went down for breakfast at 8 am ( the room info said 7.30-9) to find everything locked up and dark. I knocked on the door in case there was someone in the kitchen but no answer. So my husband had to struggle back up the stairs which he had found very difficult already. I phoned the hotel number and got an answerphone. After several trips up and down the stairs I eventually found the same chef from the night before on duty, he said he had been told the first breakfast was booked for 9 am - and we should have been asked what time we wanted. The breakfast was adequate but again not hot enough, not helped by cold plates. When we went down to check out there was no one on reception. The only pluses were the big towels already mentioned, and the comfortable bed. I had filled out the feedback card provided and left that with our key at reception. On our return home there was an email from their booking system (which didn't work, I had to phone to complete our booking) - saying they hoped we enjoyed our stay and please leave a review. I emailed the hotel direct to ask if they would like to address our concerns privately before I shared a public review - but no response, so here it is. They say in the information that they are a pub, and an old building, but many of our issues could be put right with better service and some thought - without costing any money.

We arrived after a bad trip back from the Isles of Scilly and had booked this hotel at the last minute - with hindsight we should have slept in the car! The lady behind the bar was busy with a big food order so it was understandable that we had to wait for 15 minutes to check in but when she then started pulling pints for locals, who had pretty much a full pint when we arrived, it got very frustrating. The lady was very abrupt when we did finally check in - however, worse was to follow. We went up to our room which was freezing, so we tried to turn on the radiator. I mentioned this to the lady working about the heating and she said it definitely worked so we went out for dinner and hoped for the best (by the way dinner at the Dolphin was great, service was very friendly and the pub was warm!). We went back to the hotel and went to our room which had not heated up at all - I went down to the bar to ask if there was a heater but was sent away with a flea in my ear with the lady saying she only worked behind the bar and it wasn’t that cold. I went back upstairs and thought I would have a shower to warm myself up but the cubical had a funny smell, not surprising when I looked at the shower trap (see picture). The wallpaper was peeling off and there was black mould on the walls (again see the pictures) - not surprising when the rooms are kept so cold! We slept in our clothes and cannot comment on breakfast as we left at 7am as we could not wait to get away - btw the radiator came on mildly just before we left! One of the worst places I have ever been - please do not waste your money until they change certain members of the team and realise that you should not let rooms in this state!
