The room is simple and elegant, clean and tidy, warm and romantic. The butler-style service is meticulous and makes people feel at home.
The hotel has an excellent environment, embedded in a wonderful hillside, surrounded by trees and green grass, with cattle and horses roaming behind it. The Western-style breakfast is delicious and hearty, and the service is attentive, making people forget to leave.

As always, Bill Croft & his staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel had a recent refurbishment, rooms are well decorated and furnished and meals are literally to our preference. It is only a half hour journey from home and a taxi would be cheaper but we also enjoy the breakfast! Smoked salmon & scrambled eggs for me and brioche for my wife set the day off to a good start.

We came here for a 3 night stay as a couple and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel building and decor is beautiful and very cosy. The rooms are pristine and welcome gifts of chocolate truffles, shortbread and whisky were a nice touch. The hotel staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. We had afternoon tea in the restaurant on one of the days, which was lovely and they were very accommodating with dietary requirements. Nearby Peebles has nice shops, places to eat and a lovely circular walk to Neidpath Castle and Viaduct. We also did a day trip to Edinburgh. The grounds that the hotel is in make for a very peaceful and relaxing stay and we would very much hope to return. Thank you.

We spent a wonderful Hogmanay at Cringletie House. The hotel had a special Hogmanay program with guests arriving on the 30th December and departing on the 2nd January. All the meals were included, with a lovely dinner each evening preceded by a cocktail reception hosted by the owners of the hotel, Bill and Ann Cross. Each day also had its own activities including archery, falconry and a cookery demonstration. With only 14 rooms the hotel has an intimate feel and you certainly got to know your fellow guests, particularly when practicing for the ceilidh on New Year's Eve! This is not an "all singing, all dancing" hotel, for example, there is no gym or spa, but it is run more like a "house party" with the focus on personal attention and a warm welcome. Most of the fellow guests were couples although there were two families, including ourselves, and while this is perhaps not an obvious destination for younger guests the activities did manage to span the wide range of ages. Perhaps the best recommendation is that many of the guests were regular visitors to Cringletie House, and indeed by the time we left on the 2nd January half of the rooms had already been booked for the next Hogmanay!

As usual we enjoyed another wonderful stay at our favourite place. A lovely welcome from Victoria. Liam made sure our dinner was excellent, the food delicious. All the staff are polite, friendly and efficient. The high standard of food has been maintained over the years. Mark the gardener continues to ensure that the gardens are very well maintained. Bill and Ann, the owners make a point of chatting to the guests, which is a lovely touch. Thanks to everyone at Cringletie for making yet another stay so relaxing and comfortable. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. We cannot wait to be back yet again in February. Warm regards Ian and Marion Simpson

Christmas delights 🎄🎄🎄 What a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas. Christmas dinner at the Cringletie Hotel was absolutely gorgeous ❤️. A lovely warm welcome by the owner Bill , and as always the staff were so friendly and attentive, nothing is ever too much trouble and everything was relaxed and unhurried . The meal was delicious 😋 huge compliments to the chef and all the kitchen staff. Thank you for making our Christmas that bit more special again. We spent 1 night here in the Traquair suite for my partners birthday. A fabulous hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Dinner was amazing as was breakfast in the morning. Lots of info about the history of the building is available in the rooms and the walled garden and grounds were a real pleasure to stroll through even in early December !!! We’ll definitely be back.
