Green Tree Hotel

What a great place. We arrived - five weary, dusty cyclists - on probably their busiest day of the year, yet we got a warm welcome from everyone, excellent rooms (bigger than expected) with good facilities, comfortable and clean, and a marvellous breakfast next morning (we had already arranged to eat out, or we would have happily dined in the hotel too). We would definitely stop here again.

Give this hotel A BIG MISS!!!!!!!! Booked in here for a wee New Year’s treat. for a three night's stay. 3 nights in a hostel would’ve been classed as an upgrade! After checking in was taken along a narrow corridor en route for my room. The aroma was not pleasant and the swing door through to the bedrooms showed much shabby and grubby room proof of where the many hands had pushed the door open. (Very dirty). Corridor walls badly needed repainting. Badly scuffed. My room firstly was not at all welcoming. Various notices (one framed) about the no-no’s of hotel policies. The following is a list of my room experience Bathroom shower drainer had hard evidence of verdigris. Room heater on/off switch absolutely mocket (dirty) Armchairs were so well-worn the covering had disappeared in places. Towel (1) was ragged and torn with holes. Bedside lamp….the plug had a charity shop sticker (dirty) assuring that product had passed safety test. Hotel had a nerve charging £245 in the knowledge of room condition. Scunnered to say the least!

We were so impressed with our friends & family meal at The Greentree restaurant on Saturday night. Two of our fellow diners are locals to the restaurant and we could see why they recommended it so highly. Proper beautifully cooked food, generous helpings and friendly well trained staff. Dining at its best, a breath of fresh air.

Fabulous meal. Steak Pie was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! I've come to Peebles for many years and tea at the Green Tree never disappoints. Look forward to the steak pie in particular. Had the pate as a starter and it was also delicious!

This hotel is a bit dated in decor but is very clean and reasonably priced with breakfast included. The room has everything you need for a short stay, the pillows are exceptional. I would recommend this hotel and the restaurant, we had an evening meal and found the food good quality and very tasty. The staff are fantastic friendly and really helpful.

My husband and I had dinner here twice in the week, and we were certainly not disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. Quality fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection and delicious. Highly recommend The Haggis Bonbons.
