Best Western Pasadena Royale Inn Suites

My review is based on my recent week long stay at the Best Western Inn Suites in Pasadena. This was my first time staying in a normal King Room. All of my past stays where in their suites, which are a bit of a gamble with what you'll experience. Rooms and Layout: - The room featured a King size bed, a small upholstered chair, a dresser with a mini-fridge and microwave inside and a tv on top. The King Bed. Small bathroom. A small closet. In fact, it is the exact same layout and size as the Roadway inn Lodge in Glendale, but at triple the price Amenities: - It features a decent-sized refrigerator with small freezer (suitable for a few TV dinners). - Microwave - A spongy and uncomfortable King bed that feels like it needs replacement. - The decor is drab with grayish walls; the main wall behind the bed is dark neutral gray. - Lighting is inadequate, especially for those with visual impairments or requiring good lighting. - Overall ambience may negatively affect guests with anxiety or depression. Noise and Privacy: - Window faces balcony where people walk by, limiting privacy. - Cleaning carts on balcony create loud "stealth bomber"-like noise due to poor sound insulation. - Noise from other guests (toilets, showers, fans, walking outside and the room above were bad.) There was an unusually loud, unidentifiable obnoxious sound by the restroom everyone once in a while. I've stayed in motels and hotels across America, and I've never heard anything similar. Room Air Quality and Odors: - Strong chemical odor in the room from cleaning products may exacerbate breathing and allergy issues. - Window opens only about 3 inches, limiting fresh air circulation. The Bathroom: - Shower lacks handrails except one against far wall. - Ceramic tub is slippery; a bath mat is provided to place inside tub. - The bathroom tile is slippery. - Shower curtain rod is flimsy and not sturdy enough to assist getting in/out of the tub shower. Member Experience: - I am a Diamond Select member (highest tier) and was given two free bottles of water at check in. Ironically that was the highlight of this entire week. - The management was elusive and wouldn't speak with me in person to discuss my expired I.D. situation. Ultimately, they did check me in for the week, but upfront refused to allow me to extend if I had wanted to. I walked to the DMV the next day, its a few minutes away, renewed my ID. brought the renewal document to the front desk, but the manager still refused any extensions because it was not the physical plastic card which was going to take two weeks to receive. - Cleaning staff: Unfriendly and indifferent. Pricing: - Prices have doubled at this location since the January fires in Pasadena and Altadena. Breakfast: - Continental breakfast available with hot items including (eggs, sausage, potatoes). However eating breakfast the first morning left me with nausea, so I went shopping and made breakfast in the room. Best part of my
