This is the hotel that surprised me the most. It not only has delicious breakfast, comfortable beds, beautiful living room, and spacious parking lot, but also looks like a small museum that collects many Southeast Asian artworks. It also looks like a scenic spot where you can enjoy the sunset on the top of the mountain. It is more like a The home of a friendly old friend. The owner, Mr. TJ, is knowledgeable, gentle, courteous, warm and thoughtful, making people feel at home. With the help of translation software, we had a great time communicating. Afterwards, we made a special trip to the Huntington Library, which he specially recommended. There are charming gardens such as the Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Australian Garden, Desert Garden, Rose Garden, etc., as well as European artworks and giant oil paintings on display. The most precious thing is that the library has collected a large number of precious manuscripts from different historical periods, which is a feast for the eyes and an eye-opener. He also recommended us a high-quality Thai restaurant at the foot of the mountain. We had grilled fish and mango sticky rice that were as delicious as we remembered, and had a wonderful night. Thanks TJ for a wonderful trip. I recommend this safe and beautiful inn to everyone. Reminder: 1. Suitable for self-driving guests; 2. After arriving at the navigation address, it is on the left hand side of the mountain; 3. It’s best to call TJ in advance;

We were having a frustrating time finding a place to stay in greater LA and in desperation clicked on the Patrician. Wow, now I'm pretty much ruined for staying anywhere else in the USA. The property is in a beautiful private home in the hills above Pasadena. It was built in a Spanish/Arts and Crafts style in the 1920's and is in beautiful condition. The view at sunset is perfect with the Pacific in the far distance. Our host TJ was amazing, he's smart, gracious and funny. He worked in the movie business, and if you ask can tell you just about anything about how Hollywood really works. I promised myself that any time I go back to LA, it's gotta be the Patrician.

A unique B and B with an upscale breakfast. An interesting property with gorgeous views. The host is most welcoming. Our queen size bed was quite comfortable and we had our own bathroom which was not recently updated. This property is quite close to the rose bowl(15 min drive) Beautiful neighborhood but not walkable as there are not any sidewalks. The house is a historical house and decorated with antique furniture.

Amazing historic property with matching views. Antique pieces from all over the world match the 100 year old charming home. Host is most welcoming, offering help and services beyond expectations. You will enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning and equally refreshing lemon drop martini at night.

Our stay at the Patrician B&B in Pasadena was very enjoyable and unlike other accommodations that we both could remember. TJ, the house manager, made our stay absolutely unique. The villa is located at the top of a cozy, quiet Pasadena hill offering beautiful views over the Los Angeles valley. The historic house is beautiful inside as well as its surrounding outdoor spaces. The 3 of us stayed in Pasha’s Paradise, a luxurious and very comfortable room with a large sitting area, spacious bathroom and a second powder room. The interior of the Patrician is beautifully decorated with many Asian artifacts some of which are Thai and reminded us of our several visits to Thailand. The spacious living room with a large fireplace was warm and inviting. The kitchen, which has a large island with seats surrounding it was also comfortable and inviting of casual conversations. The morning weather on the weekend that we stayed was cool and damp so TJ set up our breakfasts in this space. TJ greeted us when we first arrived at the Patrician and introduced us to his house and its beautiful surroundings. He was very hospitable and helpful and was immediately advising us about what attractions to visit and recommending an excellent Thai restaurant in Pasadena. His recommendations and his estimates of the time to do these things were right on the spot. We came back in the evening just in time for his delicious home-made lemon-drop martinis.  In the evenings we gathered around the big kitchen island, sipped our martinis and got to know TJ and the other guests, some of whom were displaced by the Altadena fire. Jacek’s niece, Monika, who was visiting from Poland, enjoyed her talks with TJ and the other guests and she told us later how her conversations with them impressed her as to how friendly, genuine and kind Americans were.   The morning breakfasts were definite treats. TJ gave us freshly brewed coffee, teas, tart cherry juice, yogurt with fresh berries and a variety of granolas to add to the yogurt. And, when the piping hot chocolate croissant came out of the oven and on to our plates, it was heaven! Getting to know TJ and his adventures was easy and enjoyable.  Once again, TJ gave us great ideas to plan our Saturday based off our 2 PM concert at the Ambassador Auditorium. Because of his recommendation, we were able to experience the Huntington Gardens and Museum. Again, his recommendations of what to see and the time to enjoy this world-class gardens were spot-on! We cannot say enough about the Patrician and TJ’s amazing hospitality. As we said earlier, our stay at the Patrician was so unique and so unlike any other accommodation we have experienced in the past in our almost 30 years of traveling. The Patrician is a true gem and TJ completes this distinctive and special place. We definitely want to return to visit the Patrician again when we visit LA in the future!   January 24-26, 2025 Jacek & Woody Palm Springs, CA
