Lenox Montparnasse

This is a really good 3 star hotel, not fancy, but very peaceful. I chose it based on previous ratings and was pleased. The room seemed recently renovated and the space was well used. Our room on the back side ws very quiet and looked over a peaceful courtyard. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. The bathroom was a good size for the total square footage/meters and had a rain shower. Plenty of closet space. The climate control kept the room cool on a very hot day. There was a safe, kettle and a smaller than usual fridge. My only disappointments were that the fridge was too small for 1.5 liter soda bottle and there were barely enough electric plugs. Therefore, I always travel with a 3-way plug for situations like this. The location is a feels a bit upmarket and just a few streets from Tour Montparnasse and train station. Metro line 4 is a two minute walk away and line 6 is about 5 minutes. I found this to be a surprisingly lively with lots of nice restaurants, bars and supermarkets. It was missing the cute little shops you find in the 9th and 10th arr, but that's the character of this area. Don't miss the Montparnasse cemetary 2 streets away. It's like a park and a relaxing place.

This was my 9th?, 10th stay at this hote? What I find interesting is that there is clearly no record of my past stays. I don't want to be fawned over, I'm just surprised they don't have a system to keep track of regular guests. This time I chose The Lenox for myself and friends who were first time visitors to Paris. I stay in the Junior suites, they are much larger and also more expensive, but for the cost of the room, you can't beat the value of what you get. The room is comfortable, especially for 2. There is a plentiful breakfast in the morning. The one thing I have noticed the last few times I've stayed is that they do have tour groups stay here, which is not something I've experienced until the last few years. The only reason I bring it up is that they all hit breakfast at the same time and it is near impossible for the one breakfast staff member to keep up resulting in a pretty untidy room with supplies running low and not being refilled. It also meant many dirty tabels and nowhere to sit for several minutes. I did find this frustrating. Once the group left, it was fine. It remains my go to hotel in Paris and also a place I recommend to friends visiting for the first time Oh!, and you CANNOT beat the location.

Great location for the Montparnasse area. Smallish room, but as expected for a city hotel. Well-equipped, clean and everything worked. Very friendly staff on the desk, and very comfortable switching to English when our French wasn't good enough. Good buffet breakfast, but we should have locked into the cheaper price available when booking the room rather than deciding each day.
