Familia Hotel

Location: Situated in the 5th District’s University District, close to Line 7/10 subway stations, within walking distance of the Temple of the Immortals and Notre Dame de Paris. A Chinese restaurant is located on the same street.(based on 2 reviews)

This was a lovely surprise as it is a great location for seeing Paris on foot. Notre Dame is a few minutes away & the lovely rue Mouffetard is just around the corner. Lots of lovely cafes & restaurants , not to mention La Samaritaine which is a 25 minute walk The rooms are small but very comfortable. The staff is lovely and very welcoming. There is a small lift for those who do do not fancy using the spiral staircase I will definitely use this hotel again.

This hotel was very basic (it is only 2 stars after all) we picked it as we had stayed in the hotel nextdoor, so we knew how easy it was to get around. We loved the other hotel but picked this one as it had air conditioning and June can be quite warm The air con works to keep you cool, but it's very old and we all (7 of us, in different rooms) felt ill in the morning, snuffles, dry throat etc. when I turned mine off in the morning, it leaked water all over the TV and plug sockets directly underneath. These were also the only sockets in the room, there were none by the bed. The doors on each floor open on to the very steep stairs and don't give much room to get out safely, especially if you struggle with mobility. Breakfast is €12 per person, but there is a lovely cafe, directly opposite which is much cheaper and has more choice. The beds have a quilt but it was in-between 2 sheets rather than a quilt cover, but it was fine. I also wish there had been a fridge in the room. However, I had the sweetest balcony with a table and chairs to watch Paris go by and the beds were incredibly comfortable. I wanted to bring my mattress home with me. The staff were all so lovely and spoke really good English. There was a guy painting the door to a room in the reception and it was so beautiful to watch him work. He has painted all the doors and they are all so pretty. This hotel is so close to Notre Dame, a 10 minute walk away at most and you can hear the bells, which is beautiful. We used the Batobus (the river bus) to get around. You can buy a ticket which covers you for a few days and the boat stops at all the important places near, the Louvre, Eiffel tower, and many more. So it's easy to hop on and off and all the attractions are a very short walk from the boat. We've been to Paris a few times and this is so much easier than the metro and more leisurely. Over all, it's ok as a place to put your head overnight, so long as you don't need the air con, but personally, I won't be going here again.
