New York Plaza Hotel Apartments

Between the rude and thieving staff, the lack of air conditioning poor building conditions the unsanitary pool. This place is by far the worst example of holiday accommodation in Paphos. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, they were taken a long time ago, before this place fell into such a disrepair it would be easier to knock it down and start again. On checking in, the lady behind the front desk has a long list of faults for each room, and would be able to tell you everything working with the room before you stepped into it. The pool was cloudy with a tremendous amount of chemicals just poured in and a small hose in the corner to check the water going! Onto the morning after the horrendous night on the air conditioning unit with no cover! The extremely rude breakfast member of staff who slammed plates down and asked why we wanted the breakfast even though it paid for! She continued to make the breakfast experience very uncomfortable. Lastly, we had a very expensive speaker handed into the chef, we went to ask for it back and the staff denied all knowledge of it, and were heard saying that they had taken it from us. Overall never go to this place.

Oh god, where do I even start? The only nice thing I have to say about this place is: the staff were rather friendly to us. Everything else is, quite honestly, a mess. The rooms are so incredibly outdated that I am absolutely positive no one has ever reinvested a single cent into this hotel. Bedrooms are huge, in fact they are more like apartments but what is more impressive is how dirty and unkempt they are. The thin, cracked, yellow stained toilet seat in our room looked like it was about to disintegrate into thin air from decades of use. The bathtub had some white stains on it and our bathroom in general, looked nothing like the photos shown on Booking. There was never any hot water in the evening, only in the morning. Beds were squeeky and uncomfortable. The heater in the bedroom was broken and couldn't even be switched on. The sheets looked clean but I found somone's hair in them when we arrived so I am not positive they have been changed from the previous guest. There is a yellow stained bedspread thrown over your bed when you arrive. There is a couple of blankets in the closet that look about a thousand years old and are of dubious level of cleanliness. There are exactly two glasses for you to drink out of in the entire kitchen and they don't even match. Very spare cutlery and pots but it doesn't matter really as the kitchen was so dirty and full of crumbs and stains we wouldn't dare use it anyway. The whole place has a stale, weird smell that hits you from the moment you open the door. We paid very little for this stay but it was still below our lowest expectations.
