Il Genio del Porto - Mabbonath b&b

What can I say? We stayed four nights at this property, in an excellent, central yet quiet location. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was more than adequate. But the highlight was Mauro, the owner. He was kind, calm, helpful, and welcoming, like the vast majority of Sicilians, and...a bottomless well of culture and detailed knowledge of the area, its past and present! With his invaluable advice, we were able to make the most of our stay. We were saddened by the end of our stay, but we hope to repeat the experience! Thank you, Mauro!

The B&B has everything it needs: it's in a great location, convenient to the city center, close to the main roads, and surrounded by restaurants. It's on a pedestrian street, inside a very well-maintained period house. It's clean and quiet, and we always slept well. Breakfast is simple but delicious, with fantastic croissants and fresh fruit, among other things. Outside of breakfast hours, you can always get herbal teas, biscuits, or granola. Mineral water is also available. The owner, Mauro, is a refined, kind, and extremely knowledgeable person who is always happy to share any aspect of the city, from its history and anecdotes to where to eat, what to see, and how to get around. The atmosphere is very family-friendly, so obviously different from that of a hotel where you often don't even look at each other or speak to anyone. This made our vacation much more authentic to the spirit of Palermo, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Considering the very reasonable price for Palermo, I think this B&B has few rivals, especially if you value the personal touch of your trip.
