The Jericho Hotel

This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. Check-in was in the Lebanese restaurant next-door and the poor waiter couldn't help us with parking. We booked this place because Google stated it had free parking (a huge plus in Oxford!!), and when we asked the hotel for confirmation they emailed to say they had 5 spaces plus another 8 only 30 seconds away. Well, that was a blatant lie. The owner confirmed they'd sent the email but didn't actually have any parking spaces. We ended up finding ourselves somewhere to park a 15 minute walk away for another £50 for 38 hours. The rooms are all upstairs with no lift (which we half expected). The rooms are dated, but are actually on the larger size. The bathroom was tiny though, and definitely needed a good clean. There was mould in the shower, plus dirt and hairs on the walls and ceiling. It looked like it had recently been re-tiled but done in a slap-dash fashion, with grout uneven and splashed on a few other surfaces. The toilet seat was cracked and had been glued back together at some stage, and the shower curtain rail was broken and being held up with a bit of rope. The shower itself had very little water pressure (and needed replacing) despite the tap in the sink having almost too much water pressure!! The beds were somehow both too soft and too hard at the same time, and I found a few strange hairs in my bed when we first got there. No air-conditioning but there was a desk fan that could be pointed at the beds, so that was a nice touch, as was the mini fridge. Only a short walk to Jericho and about 15 minutes into Oxford itself, so the location itself is great. There is NO breakfast or 24-hour room service despite what Google states. With what we ended up paying for in parking, we could've got a much better hotel that included parking, breakfast, a decent bed and better service.

I bit apprehensive at first due to a couple of bad comments by others. The Jericho hotel was perfect. It was clean, comfortable & central location within walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful with our needs. I highly recommend this hotel if staying in Oxford
