Monumental Movieland Hotel

This place is not even 3 stars. Everything was rusty, the vending machines were out stock, the game room was off limits, the 'queen' beds were tiny and the pillows are a sad excuse!

Let me start by saying we had stayed at this hotel a few years ago twice. We had a pleasant stay with two children and being a short walk to Universal, it was an ideal location. (I think it was under a different name then). So we booked again. Upon arriving after an eight hour flight, the first thing I noticed as we pulled up was the reception glass doors. They were absolutely covered in fingerprints and dirt and at that point filled me with dread as to what I was about to walk into. The first thing I noticed was it still looked the same as the previous times we were there, but this time everything looked dirty and old. The reception had a strong smell of ******* and three dodgy looking men stood behind the reception. Eventually we checked in and got our room key. We followed the bleach smell to our room and when we oped the door the smell of bleach nearly knocked me off my feet. The room was grim, smelt of strong bleach, furniture was falling apart and the safe didn't work. After waiting what seemed forever for a guy to come and put some new batteries in the safe, while still inhaling pure bleach, we didnt unpack and went out for some food. I wasnt looking forward to returning to the HOSTEL I had paid nearly £900 to stay for two weeks. We reluctantly stayed the one night, god knows what creatures I shared the bed with. I was up at 4am the next morning and by 6am we were checking into Universals Dockside for the remainder of our holiday. There was no way on earth I was staying in this disgusting hotel with my daughter another night. I could of contacted our travel company but that would of meant having to stay while they sorted it out. I wasn't wasting our two week holiday trying to contact the UK company so I made the decision to cut our losses, move on and start our holiday. This hotel should be shut down. Is there no health and safety in place in florida. The people who own hotel should be ashamed of themselfs.

The hotel had a good layout, but there was barely any staff and it was very dirty with cigarette butts and pizza crusts laying in the hallway. There were no bugs in the hotel though, so I was thankful for that.
