Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando

Food was great, but very little options if you can't do dairy. I wish I was alerted that there was going to be a cheerleading competition at the hotel and the studio because they got very annoying at the pool and at universal. Nobody warned us the park was closing at 6 due to grad bash, and they did nothing for us after purchasing tickets full price for literally 3 hours of enjoyment. The person on phone told me I could check in and get my hotel room as early as I want which ended up being a lie and costing us a lot of time we could have saved. We checked in our bags than got the wrong bags which costed us more time later again and frustration. I think for how much you're paying these should be considered if you're booking a hotel with them, but hopefully they can improve upon it. Otherwise great stay and thank god for the included express pass otherwise we would haven't gotten on many rides in. Staff was very nice and helpful except for some of the baggage people.

I was looking forward to my stay at Universal, as someone who visits Disney all the time. The main reason for our stay was due to Halloween Horror Night and I was excited for the change. However, I wish Universal was more transparent about the renovations being done at this hotel because it's major construction. It didn't really affect my stay because I was lucky enough to be placed as far away as possible, and we spent all day at the parks. But, I can see why people are upset, especially if you want to plan a relaxing day at the resort. We had club level access, but other than the drinks, the food wasn't really to our liking. If you're someone who likes eggs and potatoes every day for breakfast, by all means go for it. I would have really liked it if they offered a bit more variety. The wine and beer during dinner time was okay. I just don't think it's worth paying for, honestly. We stayed in the 2 Queen bed Club Level room. It was very spacious and clean. Part of staying in a club level room is the amenities, and this is where I had an issue. We had an early flight in the morning and requested turndown service at 6pm. Turndown service is normally done from 5pm-9pm. Upon returning to the room at 8pm, it wasn't serviced. Guest Services were notified, and I was told they left for the day. When I asked why we were skipped, I was met with the response that they didn't have access to the housekeeping board. I guess I should have been happy that they gave me extra towels, but that just didn't sit right with me because no one apologized or took accountability. It kind of felt like I was bothering them for using an amenity that I paid for. It also didn't help that on my way back to my room on the 4th floor, I saw housekeeping on the first floor, despite being told that they left for the day. Also the parking, It's free at Disney but it wasn't here. So keep that in mind, it was 33 dollars a day plus tax. Overall, it's a beautiful resort. The inside is very clean, the lobby smells wonderful, and most of the workers are helpful. And it's very close to the parks, a short walk. But unfortunately, that one interaction just didn't sit right with me, and personally, I think that Disney just goes that extra mile and believed they would have handled that situation a lot better. I really enjoy staying at Disney Hotels more than I did with this stay.

The stars have yet to reveal themselves, but with hearts full of hope, my family and I eagerly anticipate our arrival in October 2024. However, as we delve into the sea of recent reviews, a wave of anxiety washes over us. The presence of construction looms ominously in our minds, and while we understand the inevitability of progress, we fervently wish it won't cast a shadow on our precious stay. After dedicating a significant sum—$5,000 for our family of four—we feel a pang of disappointment that no prior mention of the construction was made during the booking process. Our excitement is tinged with worry, especially after discovering the recent notes on this matter. Moreover, my heart aches as I come across numerous negative comments regarding the treatment from the staff and the front desk’s response to guests’ concerns. We long for a warm, welcoming atmosphere that envelops us like a cherished embrace, reminiscent of our previous visits. Yet, amidst this uncertainty, the thrill of anticipation ignites within us. The allure of those charmingly outdated rooms captivates my imagination, transporting me to an enchanting era where the 50s come alive with Spanish archways and vintage furnishings. It's as if time stands still, wrapping us in nostalgia and wonder. Thank you for the memories we've created in the past—those moments have become treasures we hold dearly. We can hardly contain our excitement to reconnect with the staff once again, to bask in luxury and serenity, and to indulge in a regal experience before our return to the everyday hustle. We are counting the days until we can soak in the beauty of it all!

Wrapping up a stay here now in a Club Level 2 Queen Room. Room - 3 Stars. Perfectly fine and adequate space for 4. Clean. Getting a little dated now and mattresses are getting soft and hilly. Plenty of storage. Service: 4 Stars. Very friendly with a lot of genuine effort. Knocking off a star because of lack of knowledge. We got conflicting and incorrect answers to basic questions about bus schedules to the park, the fitness center and a big issue was when House Keeping knocked on our door for several minutes for turn down service at 9:30pm. After 8 hours in the parks we were all sleeping. Location: 5 stars. Very convenient to the parks. Other: 4 Stars. Food and service in the Club Lounge were excellent. Although the room is pricey the value is there because of the location, Express Passes and early entry. Didn’t use the pool and the fitness center is a temporary one with very very limited equipment which wasn’t disclosed ahead of time and disappointing. Construction didn’t bother us or affect our stay otherwise.

We stayed for 4 nights in a club room. Fully aware of construction work when booking - it was a little intrusive but was fully expected. Club lounge fantastic - all staff there, check in , concierge, pool and bell hop were fantastic. Alex?, who manages the club lounge couldn’t do enough for us. Why the 3 star review? The spa on our last day - we were using this facility to have a shower before leaving. The attitude from the lady in the spa reception was disgusting. Demanded yo know who told us we could use the spa, then asked if we were club level. Then flatly refused our son a shower. On leaving we thanked her and were not even acknowledged. If Loews want repeat business they need to get rid of the spa operator.

We stayed at this hotel during what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, but it was anything but. The entire property is essentially a construction zone. Scaffolding, plastic sheets, and workers were everywhere, creating constant noise and an unpleasant atmosphere. We were not informed of the extent of the renovations before booking, and had we known, we would have stayed elsewhere. The noise around the pool was unbearable, with loud construction drowning out any possibility of relaxation. We even had to leave the pool area twice due to supposed storms, and the staff forced us back to our rooms. Meals were overpriced and of poor quality, with limited choices. For the price we paid, I expected a far more pleasant experience. Unfortunately, it fell way short. I would recommend avoiding this hotel until the renovations are completely finished.
