The Emerald Iguana Inn

Had an amazing time staying in the Grasshopper Room this past weekend. It was beautifully appointed, positively spotless, and set in a magical wooded area with every kind of amenity we could have imagined. The pool was lovely, the grounds enchanting, and the staff friendly and super helpful. Emerald Iguana Inn is definitely our new home away from home whenever we are in Ojai. So peaceful, relaxing, quiet and lovely all the way around.

Soul-comforting charm! This petite property is a delight to eyes, ears, and nose. The gardens are lush and tranquil. The clever architecture and winding paths create blessed privacy. I stayed in the Treehouse: a huge room with views, a fireplace, a towering ceiling, and a claw-foot tub ideal for soaking. The breakfast room next to the lovely pool area boasts many games and, for a touch of nostalgia, a great library of DVDs. Can't wait to return.

The door to our room was next to the pool and I know there were others that surrounded that central focus as well. I think there might have been a couple of other rooms a bit removed. In any case it didn’t seem to matter because this isn’t the kind of place where you’re going to find a lot of kids frolicking in the pool. It’s pretty much a couples getaway oasis located at the end of a residential street just a few blocks away from the main road in town. The room had sort of a mission style feel with a cute little patio area. The property is extremely well tended to but they should take care of spider webs on the patio umbrellas.

Just checked out. We mentioned the fireplace in our room was not working as well as the DVD player. (We had alerted them to the fireplace the evening before and they said they would check and we never hear back). The woman at the front desk was completely unapologetic and told us we should have 'connected the hdmi cable and next time let us know before 3pm about the fireplace." We didn't even check in before 3! She essentially said 'go F yourself' with a smile on her face. Left us with a really bad taste. It's too bad how an interaction like that can ruin the whole experience.

This was our second stay at the Emerald, and it didn't disappoint. This time we stayed in the Leaf Suite and we liked it better. The staff is always so cheerful, attentive and helpful. We love how quaint the inn is, you feel like you're staying in a friend's guest house. The location of the Emerald is fantastic, it's 2 minute drive to the main drag, or only an easy 15 minute walk.

A tranquil oasis just a 10 minute walk to the main drag in Ojai. Check-In was a breeze. Just an envelope with the key to my room left on the door. It's a small property and while they say they don't provide breakfast, there is such an abundance in the Welcome Room - coffee, teas, little mini Danish you could have a breakfast out of it. I stayed in a toad room which was just marvelous.
