Loch Melfort Hotel

Lovely hotel, fantastic location, the food was great and the staff helpful.

Hotel is a little tricky to find despite the signs on the main road. Up the driveway, I found myself facing a farm and a private home. There is one sign pointing left off to a garden, no mention of the hotel. It turns out you must follow that road. Anyway, the view of the lake is lovely. We arrived quite late, about 9pm. I think the kitchen was closed but they managed to make some soup and sandwiches for us. We followed this with one drink just before the bar closed. We tried to drink outside at the lakeside but the insects forced us back in! Nice room, good value for money (100 pounds) despite the ageing decor. In the morning we ate the cooked breakfast and checked out. This is when I got hit for an additional 75 pounds for the food and drink, almost doubling my bill. It's a nice place but think twice before you think you've got a bargain.

The views from our room, with balcony, were stunning with views over Loch Melfort. Food was first class. Staff were friendly and helpful. The roaring fire in the bar just off the restaurant was very welcoming. All in all a lovely place to stay. We will be back!

I stayed here with my partner and our 8 year old daughter. I had booked a sea view double room and requested a spare bed to made up for my wee one. When I checked in they had upgraded us and gave us 2 rooms instead. The 2nd room we were given was really lovely and my daughter enjoyed having a room all to herself. I must say the customer service at this hotel is fantastic. Very helpful and attentive. The location of this hotel cannot be beaten. It’s breathtaking …exactly the place to go if you want to be off the beaten track and surrounded by clean fresh air and nature. The hotel is snug and cosy with a charming Scottish feel. We had dinner and the food quality was superb. There was a wait in between courses as mentioned in other reviews but we didn’t mind as the atmosphere was so nice and chilled. We even got some beautiful palate cleansers in between courses. Hotel was lovely and quiet at night. Bed super comfy and cosy. Breakfast was great ..we got greeted by a lovely man in a kilt who was very attentive. All in all we had a great wee stay here and will definitely be back.

Having just returned from a stay at the Loch Melfort Hotel, my husband and I are still mulling over all the different things that made it so special. Of course the setting alone is wonderful (even more so if you are a gardener, as the stunning Arduaine Garden is literally next door), but there was so much more. The rooms with balconies facing the sea loch were exceptional - spacious, cosy and with a view to die for. Lots of little details had been very well thought out, including the very lovely Highland Soap bathroom items - in proper bottle dispensers. There were also cosy waffle cotton dressing gowns! The bed and arm chairs (facing the view) were very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Another huge 'hurrah!' was the dining room and the standard of cuisine - both truly excellent! The waiting staff were professional, pleasant and very attentive. The food was genuinely delicious - including the wonderful breakfast menu. And all of this whilst looking out over the constantly changing panorama of the bay and islands in front of the hotel. I would mention only one minor niggle - the instant coffee in the bedroom was the usual offering with 'milk' in those annoying wee tub things - but honestly I hate even mentioning it, because everything was of such a high order. We will definitely be back and recommending it to friends and family.

Was here for a wedding, the hotel is lovely, the staff could not be more friendly, the food was excellent. The room was beautifully clean and the bed was very comfortable. Would recommend if you are having a trip to the area. The Hotel has lovely views over the loch and a lovely deck (weather permitting). The log fires in the lounge is a nice touch.
