Took my son for his 25 birthday Sunday. ..from the outside the place is beautiful. Nice location.. back patio seating over looking rutland was lovely shame about the wasps.had to go in doors .carpets were a bit dated/decore ..too many staff .doing not much .. drinks were over priced .taster menu £135 + 12.5 service charged a bit steep....was the best birthday present. Wont be rushing..I've stayed at grantley hall .I think these related in some way ... one manager wearing black suit sweeped passed to table and took an empty glass .this isn't the right manor to a michelin star restaurant ..all need some fresh training ..even when paying the bill no-one asked how was yr dinner..disappointed.. my is an executive head chef. We know how it should be

Excellent as usual and quite a surprise to find the food was the best ever experienced there. And we have been visiting for just over 25 years! Renovations and room updates are perfect but we did find one very annoying problem. In the bar you cannot get a decent G&T because they serve a very poor tonic. Full of sugar and not a Fevertree in sight. 1 star for G&T's. No A/C in 28 degrees was a problem but they coped very well.

We were booked to stay at the hotel on the 12th of June. We arrived at the hotel and there was no-one to help to help with the bags which was surprising. There was a lady at the front desk who advised us at there were no tables for dinner but there is a nice pub down the road! We did question driving from Heathrow (We were on holiday from Kuwait) to stay at Hambleton hall and not eat in the restaurant was madness and she then offered a table at 6pm but it was already almost 5pm when we arrived and this wasnt suitable and she said there was nothing they could do. As we had a reservation for the next 4 days at Harts in Nottingham (owned by the same couple) we suggested we drive and have an extra night there instead. The lady at reception called Harts and arranged the extra night in Harts. She said she would refund the money (£200 deposit) and it would take a few days to show in the account. We stayed at Harts and driving to the airport 5 days later we had a voicemail from Roshan who said he was the manager and that they were not refunding at all due to their T&Cs and they had charged my husbands account for £490. We eventually got to speak to him and he said he didnt need to honour anything. After 10 minutes or so on the phone he said as a gesture he would refund the £290 but we would loose £200 and was really very abrupt. We explained many times this is not what the lady at the desk had promised but he was not interested. I really feel this was poor from a hotel of this calibre and have since discovered he is not the General manager as he had told us. A disappointing experience and shall certainly not be returning back. POOR!

A lovely country house hotel, with great old-fashioned cosy decor. The staff are great. There was a walk-in shower and a comfortable bed with a deep mattress, both of which are essentials for me. The restaurant has an a la carte menu, featuring food you want to eat, beautifully cooked and presented; there is a full vegetarian menu. We were able to have pre-dinner drinks on the terrace overlooking the wonderful garden and Rutland Water. We have stayed here many times and will undoubtedly come back again.

What a beautiful venue and food that I can only describe as orgasmic starting with amuse bouche with our pre lunch drinks in the beautiful library. I loved the pink sparkling English wine too. We enjoyed foie grasse and asparagus starters then lamb and duck, summer fruit sorbet and awesome strawberries. I wont list all the ingredients but the flavour combination is outstanding and it’s something for you to explore and enjoy. Service of course is exemplary but friendly and welcoming for all guests. The location is also so beautiful. Now the confession …. We were married at Hambleton Hall 25 years ago and that was a stunning day but it’s the first time we’ve managed to return. It certainly won’t be so long next time and the beautiful personalised menu they gave us will be treasured

Hambleton Hall Hotel Hambleton Hall is a former hunting lodge turned into a hotel and (Michelin starred) restaurant, that overlooks Rutland Water. We had a one night stay in June 2025 in the Fern Room, a first floor room that overlooks the formal gardens of the hotel. The room was large with a very comfortable bed, plenty of electrical sockets and a large bathroom with walk-in shower. I measured the WiFi in our room at a very respectable 40 Mbps download and 37 Mbps upload, plenty for normal internet usage. The hotel breakfast is made to order, with very good pastries from the local Hambleton bakery. The hotel lounge has a real log fire and is a very comfortable place to relax. The staff here were charming. I have stayed here a few times over the years and it has always been excellent.

Amazing. Location is superb. The hotel is liking walking back in time with all the modern conveniences. The restaurant is to die for. Brilliant menu and matched with a simple but strong wine list. Staff were unbelievably lovely without being in your face. Try this place it has it all

We stayed for 2 nights in Swallow. The Hambleton is such a relaxing place, so comfortable, a true restorative. The housekeeping, the food, the service are all very, very good indeed. The gardens are gorgeous. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable. We had just completed an 84 mile walk so were ready to reward ourselves with a treat! The Hambleton was perfect. Thank You.
