Really good, nice staff, a bit far from the city but very quiet and good for sleep. It's also nice to jog/walk around the lake.

We stayed with friends for the August bank holiday weekend, 4 adults and 3 kids. Booking super easy via pitch up and arrival email received 24 hours before arrival so that was nice and easy. Nice big pitches and the option to request to pitch next to friends was good rather than just finding somewhere when you arrive. We were in the Paddock field which is just across from the toilet/shower blocks and the washing up facilities. Good job really as the site has 1200 pitches but only one lot of toilets. Not ideal for those middle of the night trips! The toilets were ok. I didn't see any cleaners until the last day but they didn't get too grubby throughout the weekend. There was only one lot of hand soap in the women's the whole time we were there, all others empty. Quite a lot of noise until late at night which was a bit annoying and lots of people having camp fires which the site states is prohibited. No one walking round policing things so bound to happen but noise will be present on any campsite. Only a 10 minute walk to the water sports centre which was good. Kids had a fab time with the activities we had booked them in for. Tips - Take a camping loo in case you are on the opposite side of the site. Don't forget your ear plugs.

It was a fairly average campsite. Communication is extremely poor, you cannot call the campsite nor do they reply to your emails. We were not sending any confirmation so we just had to wait until the date and turn up. When we arrived there was nobody on reception and couldn't get into the site. When the staff member turned up she told me the internet was not working so she couldn't find my booking. When we finally got in, the campsite was well layed out and despite the negative reviews regarding the cleanliness of the toilets a showers they were absolutely fine and very clean. The shop was well stocked but strange that they didn't stock gas canisters, especially when open fires were forbidden. Remember that if you are planning on staying on the campsite and taking part in extra activities this costs a lot of money. ok if your budget is high but if your looking for a low budget experience this is definitely not the place.

We stayed in the hotel over the weekend (Fri, Sat & Sunday) as we were attending "The Gloworm Festival" with other family members who were glamping. The room was small, but was perfect for our activity which was get up, get ready, and go out to the festival! We slept like logs as the beds were nice and comfy. Using the bedroom as a base to be located in and to safely store our belongings was perfect. The TV in our room was the size of a postage stamp but who cares, we were at the festival. It fit the bill for our needs so we give it a thumbs up. On leaving we spent a few minutes chatting to a lovely staff member who brought some festive cheer to my mood (I am sorry I did not catch the gent's name but we will call him "Santa Klaus" for those who know! But what a lovely man to have at the reception desk. Was it the best hotel I have visited, no. Was it the worst, no. But for our weekend it did all we asked for and for all that was needed. A safe warm place to sleep with safe parking and nice staff.

This review only concerns the campsite, not the sports activities available. DO NOT stay here. We'd read the reviews and thought that perhaps they were exaggerated but they are not. The toilets and showers are the dirtiest and most poorly serviced we've ever had to use. Some toilets don't flush with other toilet seats broken and not repaired and one day, there was no water available until this was fixed. I didn't even want to use the showers. Also, we were surprised that there didn't seem to be any bins for recycling. It was interesting walking to the water sports centre and watching the canoeists and white water rafts and on another day there was a Cancer Research Pretty Mudder being held which was great to watch. The bus links in to Nottingham are good. If you take 11 bus from 'the loop' which is about 10 minutes from the site, they go more regularly than from the bus stop closer to the site.

How is this described as a hotel? no restaurant, bar or breakfast facilities (vending machines only) and the smallest room imaginable I went into the room and had to reverse out because I couldn’t turn round. Avoid at all costs.

We were pretty sceptical after seeing others reviews of this place but were pleasantly surprised by our stay at the campsite. Did a thorough poo check on all toilets, clear. Showers do look a bit dated but we have no doubt you could shower in them if needs be. You might get slightly annoyed at the sound of screaming children thrashing around on scooters if you’re staying in a tent but the noise seemed to stop around 10pm, we slept fine. Overall, big thumbs up from us (picture attached). Oh, hotel was great too, the guy on reception told us to visit a local graveyard, take that as you will.

How is this described as a hotel? Staff are few and far between, no restaurant, bar or breakfast facilities (vending machines only) and the smallest and dirtiest rooms imaginable. Avoid at all costs. It's abysmal. Travelodge is 5* compared to this hell-hole.
