Sutton Staithe Hotel

A lovely hotel, across from river moorings, and in a peaceful setting. The Staff were very helpful, even carrying my case up the quirky staircase.The room was clean, with good decor, and facilities. The en-suite had a bath and shower, which was a bonus. The only downside was limited plug sockets, but it was a minor issue. The hotel itself is welcoming, with some low doorways and corridors, adding to the original features. And despite a mix of old/new decor as they continue to make improvements, it had a very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely, well-cooked with lots of flavour (great bacon and sausage!) We didn't use the bar, outdoor seating or garden, but the Kids Play area looked fun!

This is the second time we have stayed here. The owner is slowly working on a full refurbishment. There is something quite rustic to the place. It’s no Hilton, but serves the purpose for tired travellers. Good look with the refurb. Love the concept of the Bee room!

I stayed over at the Staithe last night while in Norfolk attending a family funeral. I've been a customer at this rather special establishment throughout its various incarnations over the last 35 years and experiences have been mixed. Having had family in Sutton all these years, however means it has regularly been a watering hole I had a long drive up yesterday morning from the South Coast which after a few enforced detours, resulted in arrival at just after midday. I had enquired a few days earlier whether there would be any chance of an early check in so I could freshen up and change before the ceremony. This request was granted on arrival with a smile and I also had time for a quick sandwich and pint. My room was a very decent size, clean and very well appointed. After the funeral I returned to the hotel and we had a very nice dinner, my fussy brother was particularly impressed with his steak and finished off a long and emotional day with a few beers out on the patio on a balmy summers evening. After a comfortable night's sleep and a decent breakfast the staff on duty bade me a cheery farewell. I hope the current owners and team carry on in the same vain and do well. This will definitely remain my go to stopover venue when visiting the Broads moving forward. Many thanks.

Whilst the setting for the hotel is very nice, the interior leaves a lot to be desired . No curtains at our bedroom window. Only two coat hangers. Poor sound insulation, could hear everything going on in the room next door. Pet owners will love it, but I don’t think dogs should be allowed to wander around the breakfast room. The stairs are sleep and narrow. No came to help with our cases. The bar had no white wine the evening we were there.

Room was ok, toilet seat moves, shower temperature gauge did not work properly, nearly got scalded so had to shower with great care (was reported to staff at breakfast time, asked in late afternoon on return if fixed when barman had a look and simply turned the heat control past where it stopped only worked for two showers) Did not eat in the hotel other than breakfast which was ok Room was clean but no one cleaned the room during stay, if you needed clean towels had to ask for them; likewise coffee and milk etc Breakfast room wall paper peeling off wall, dampness on wall at bar door Needs an overhaul Last night in hotel fire alarm went off at 4:45 , no member of staff onsite, man passing with his dogs said he would call the owner. No fire engine arrived in the 40 minutes we stood outside. This morning no offer of an apology Won’t be back, which is sad as is right on the river

We stayed here for one Night on the way to visit family in Suffolk. Great little place, room was very clean, food in the bar was great with very friendly locals to chat to. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Great value with full English/continental breakfast included with the price. Would not hesitate to stay again.
