Costa Esmeralda Village

I wasn’t going to leave a negative review at first because I understand these people need to feed their families but Carlos (owner) is a truly bad host and he’ll try to trick you in every possible way and very disrespectful. We stayed there for 13 days, family of 5. Check in was confusing, room not properly cleaned, couch had stains and the safe was really not safe at all, since the door of the safe was just loose. Safe has a keypad but doesn’t work, you use a separate key for it. Both bathrooms had mold in them and sand on the floors. an hour after check in we requested to move us to a different room and we were told they’ll let us know. No one got back to us. During our stay we had to request in almost daily bases towels because room service would just leave 2 or 3 towels for 5 people. A week later refrigerator started leaking which it got so bad that water got in the food, fruits and veggies and of course we had to throw the food away so we started storing refrigerator food in pans. We told the front desk on Friday about the fridge and some guy showed up on Monday after we had to remind them again that same Monday morning. The pic below is after he “fixed” the fridge which water leaking was at the same pace. We have more pics and videos of the fridge leaking. At last they had use a mug to catch the water and have the mug emptied every few hours. At check out we were told that we had to pay $85 for a stain in the couch. I asked to speak to Carlos but he was in Columbia at the time. Carlos determined through a pic that a stain (which was there at check in) costed $85. So I said I’ll pay the $85 if you guys refund me the 3 nights that no one showed up for fridge but of course Carlos had no response for that, instead he bargained for the stain fee to be reduced to $50. Later on he send a text which was accusing us for the fridge and saying he’s texting due to dignity and respect and no money intentions but the same morning he put a price tag on the stain and talks about leaving the apartment in poor condition but doesn’t specify or send pics of the poor conditions instead of him apologizing to us. This is the respect and dignity of Carlos shows to his guests. I told him I am waiting on the 3 nights refund. I am already in touch with my bank and Mastercard for this issue.

Incredible stay!! We will return for sure. Family with 2 kids and they had a blast. The facilities are beautiful full of lush gardens. The personel is A+ we stayed in the poolside villa. I would highly recommend staying here. Very close to everything! Good restaurants, beaches, church.
