The location is in a rather shady and dirty neighbourhood. The hotel staff wasn't very kind and helpful. We stayed there during the strike period and needed assistance to interpret the public transport information from RATP which was given in French. However, the staff were always dismissive of our call for assistance and simply asked us to take the taxi (which was super expensive during the strike period as it's in high
demand). in actual fact, some metro lines and buses were running but only at certain timings. The saving grace is that the hotel room is spacious and clean. The hotel is also near to Carrefour and McDonald. It's about 10 min walk from the metro station.
In Depth Experience Report of LYF Gambetta Hotel Paris - A Genuine Guest's Pleasant Surprise
Introduction:
As a frequent traveler who has stayed in numerous hotels across France, choosing the LYF brand this time upon a friend’s recommendation was a completely new experience. As a first time guest of this brand and someone unfamiliar with this particular area of Paris, I documented my stay with an entirely objective perspective, and it turned out to exceed expectations.
Facilities:
The hotel is brand new, and while there was a faint hint of paint smell in the room (likely due to recent renovations), the overall facilities are thoughtfully designed with a youthful, practical, and distinctive style. My base room was around 20 square meters—already significantly larger than other Parisian accommodations in the same price range. According to the website, the hotel also offers family friendly options with kitchens, loft style rooms, and more.
The complimentary bedtime tea was excellent a well known French brand also sold at Lafayette ,perfect for unwinding at night. The coffee provided wasn’t quite to my taste, but it was still decent. The basement level (B1) features a laundry room, entertainment area, gym, co-working space, and meeting rooms, all uniquely designed. Notably, there’s a shared kitchen fully equipped for guests to cook their own meals ,a fantastic amenity!
Service:
It’s clear that the hotel’s opening team is still in training, and while some staff members appeared slightly inexperienced, their dedication was evident. Every request I made was promptly addressed. One employee, Helana, stood out-when she noticed I seemed unsure in the laundry room one evening, she proactively approached me, asked if everything was alright, and offered a solution. The next day, I observed her energetically assisting other colleagues. When I complimented her, she humbly replied that she genuinely enjoys helping others and even shared useful insights about the hotel’s facilities. Another front desk lady (whose name I regrettably forgot) was consistently warm and smiling, resolving my queries with kindness and even granting me a late checkout. Outstanding service like this truly minimizes travel hassles and adds delightful surprises to the journey. Impressed by LYF’s service, I decided to extend my stay by five more nights for a deeper experience.
Safety & Transportation:
Some had warned that this district might not be the safest, but my stay proved otherwise. The area is well connected, just a five-minute walk to the metro and feels like a residential neighborhood with an artistic vibe. One night, I returned to the hotel at 3 AM via night bus and walked back without issue, as the streets were still lively with people chatting or on dates. The area is both tranquil and culturally vibrant.
Dining:
Plenty of supermarkets and restaurants are within easy walking distance, making dining options convenient.
Booking Recommendation:
Ideal for travelers seeking an ”authentic local living” experience, young families, or digital nomads. The base room offers great value, while longer stays may warrant upgrading to a kitchen equipped unit.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. Considering its location, price, safety, facilities, and service, it stands out as the best I’ve experienced in Paris. While not the most luxurious, it’s undoubtedly a unique space that lets you feel the pulse of the city. My stay was so enjoyable that I’ve decided to book another five nights after returning from Nice. I’ll share an update after my second stay!
Great room on Paris, simple and yet have everything we needed. Spacious and clean. Shower has great water jet, huge TV screen, seems 55” or 65”...space for 2 desks.. Has window, nice cafe downstairs. Metro Couronnes is just 3 mins walk from hotel entrance, 2-3 supermarkets nearby, many more bistro and cafe nearby. Buses 20 & 96 go direct to Opera and Montparnasse.. We are returned guests the last 3 times, services and conditions of hotel are still good.

Everything was great. Nice apartments, everything is clean. Before moving in, I sent my passport in advance for registration. Everything was fast and clear.
Apartment is clean and spacious. However, no cleaning or change of towels for our 3 days stay. Given only 2 coffee capsules and few tea bags through out our stay. Bed is too soft for our liking. Zack at front office is very friendly
In the entire hotel right to sleep , in contrast beds do not do , I'm explaining : A bag waiting for us on the bed with the bed linen in the gross of you fucking ! ... Furthermore he took me 15€ of caution for no reason and he explained that the money will be re-credited but still nothing
Very welcoming structure, helpful and kind staff, really nice apartment, essential, clean, modern and king size bed, they redid our room for 3 days, more or less halfway through our stay, excellent value for money, excellent location, halfway between Paris and Disneyland, RER a few meters away
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We stayed here during our visit to Disneyland Paris. The service was top notch, the receptionist were all amazing and helpful. The room was cleaned during our stay and towels changed. The location is relatively safe and close to amenities. It’s about 20mins to Disneyland from the train station. I’ll definitely recommend especially if you’ve got kids.
