From Niigata Port, you can go through Toki Messe and go directly to the hotel! Very convenient to use before and after your trip to Sado! The night view from the free Baka-Uke Observatory is beautiful! The lights are turned off in the evening, so the night view and twilight are very beautiful and have a nice atmosphere. Recommended for couples. There is an elevator that goes directly to your room. The shop closes early! There is a bar-like place next to it, but the last order is at 19:30. It seems like they could make the atmosphere better, but I recommend Baka-Uke. The hotel shop has a limited number of items, so it is difficult to get food other than the restaurant. I wish there was a 24-hour convenience store. The front desk staff are very polite and elegant, since it is JAL. They provide children's amenities (slippers, toothbrush, towel) No pajamas Semi-double room with a bathtub It was a spacious size, which was nice! You can watch YouTube, Netflix (login required), and Amazon Prime (login required) on the TV in the room. There are ice and drink vending machines on each floor. It would have been great if there was a laundry room. If you arrive late and check out the next day, you can't use the laundry service. It was only about 7,000 yen for two people with a child, which was very much appreciated. It's cheaper than the hotels in Sado!

It's a nice hotel close to the station. There is no auto-lock, so be careful. There is only one elevator and it stops on the second floor, so it takes a long time.

My family and travelled to Niigata at the end of April 2023 and had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Okura Niigata. Prior to the trip, I had reached out to them via email to inquire about coordinating a van + driver for us (6 of us) so that we could go visit some sake breweries and to make dinner reservations for us at a nearby restaurant. The concierge team was amazing and booked a large van (jumbo taxi) and driver for the day. they also ensured that the van could accommodate a folding wheelchair for one group member that needed it. The van and driver arrived on time and was quite reasonably priced. Great experience that was made possible by the hotel team! Upon return to the hotel, we realized we had left some items on the van - the hotel called the taxi company and coordinated the return of our items. Beyond these experiences, the hotel itself is a bit older but rooms are comfortable and fairly spacious for a hotel room in Japan. Location is great and the breakfast buffet was one of the better ones we had on this trip. If I should ever travel back to Niigata, I will most definitely be staying here. The hotel and team won my business by going above and beyond...even for Japan standards of customer service! Domo arigatogozaima****a!!!

Close to the station and 7 eleven is right next to the hotel. Clean room. Also breakfast buffet has many various of options and has some local food. Highly recommend.

We stayed in a twin room after renovation. It is widely used and satisfactory. Breakfast was also enough for free, and there were menus along the theme, salad and fruit. The location is a little walk to the station and it is less 々 far to Mandai, so it may be playing with the service. It was thankful for the child to put breakfast in the box and eat it in the room. We stayed two nights at the JR East Hotel Mets at the Niigata station after arriving from Tokyo by Shinkansen. I think we exited to the western concourse and signs to hotel were easy enough to follow. The walkway enters level 3 of the hotel. Very conveniently, right next to a 7-Eleven. Also super convenient is the sake museum. Definitely must visit. Check-in was efficient and we were given rooms on the top floor (level 9). A rather basic room that has everything except for an in-room safe. No coffee (nor bottled water) was provided with the kettle but only tea. Not a problem as free coffee can be made in the waiting area next to the reception. Also in the reception area is where more bathroom amenities are provided. Only toothbrushes are in the room. The bath area in the room is large with a wash area and a stool like at the onsen along with a bathtub. That’s where a visit to the amenities area in reception comes in handy. Wifi was speedy enough for our needs. The convenient location was great for us as we arrived in the rain. There is plenty of choices for food and even shopping. Do explore around. We did buy day passes for the Niigata City Loop Bus (JPY500 per adult). Check-out was as efficient as check-in. While there wasn’t much of a view, the hotel was just right for us. Definitely worth considering

The hotel location is extremely convenient. Right next to the train station. Walk just over 100 meters and the reception is on the 4th floor. A very cost-effective hotel, has a history of 147 years, is the earliest Western-style hotel in Niigata, and still maintains a high level today. Stayed during the Changgang Fireworks Conference, the price is higher than usual, but quality service, convenient transportation and delicious meals still make people feel good value for money. It takes 4 stops to take the bus to Niigata Station. It takes only a few minutes to walk to the bus station. You can also walk from the underground street with a very historical feeling. It is very cool in summer. It is 1000 yen to take a taxi to the train station. There are many temples and shrines around the hotel, as well as the old sites of the consulates in the countries of the year, 8 minutes walk from the Niigata Art Museum. From the hotel room you can see the Sea of Japan directly and walk to the beach for a quarter of an hour. Going out is the famous Huajie in Niigata, restaurants, pubs and clubs are all around. The hotel has a very rich breakfast, curry rice, omelet and yogurt are very good. The Marco Polo Restaurant and the Sapporo Restaurant are great, and there is a famous Chinese restaurant. The room bath is pola, the bath salt is DHC. Very characteristic is the quilt cover, is made with Japanese and paper fiber, very comfortable.

The room was small but I was satisfied enough for Cospa because it was the main stay to sleep. The room asked for a non-smoking room and I smoked electronic cigarettes, so I used an outdoor non-smoking place, but is it a little hard if it is coming season or rain?
